Ultimately, the general manager should be driven by a desire to lead our business to maximum productivity and efficiency.Location: Assiniboia, SKReports to: Regional ManagerDirect reports include Marketing Manager and Facility ManagerGeneral DescriptionResponsible for the overall operations of a grain terminal facilityTo achieve positive results in areas of grain procurement, inventory management, grain shipments, staff management and grain grading and storageProvides accurate planning, forecasting, budgeting and actively participates in staff selection, training and coaching.ResponsibilitiesTo deliver financial results (revenue and expense) as set out in operating and capital budgets. Provides effective management of inventories, receivables, fixed assets and rolling stockWorking with the Regional Manager and Human Resources, coordinates and administers all embedded (local facility) Human Resource activities; includes hiring of staff, on-boarding, training, performance reviews, compensation reviews, succession planning, career development plans and discipline as requiredDevelop and maintain strong business relationships with customers that mutually beneficial. Sets the standard for excellence in customer serviceTo maximize throughput and profitable grain handling and achieves operational efficiency standards.Ensures quality standards are constantly met.Takes full responsibility for the specifications of grains when loaded into rail cars and trucks.Monitors quality problems to identify cause and develop solutions.To enforce and monitor compliance with all corporate or regulated safety, health and environmental policies and procedures.Ensures the protection of the company from an environmental perspective through the identification and reduction of environmental hazards.Previous HR roles and duties is an asset but not required.Desired skills and experienceHigh school graduate2+ years supervisory experienceA background in agriculture or farming is an asset.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel & OutlookMust maintain a favorable bond record.Attractive compensation package including bonuses, company paid medical & dental benefitsWork-life balance and Employee Assistance ProgramsPaid vacation and personal daysEmployee recognition and service awardsPaterson Grain is known throughout Canada and the world as a company rooted in its commitment to quality, innovation, and exceptional customer service.
