People like you!Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities:Work on defined projects and initiatives that support worker health, safety, and environmental compliance (eg. Government submissions, risk assessments, etc.)Assist in program & procedure development and implementationCollect process data and perform calculationsTrack and follow up with sites to ensure timely reportingReview HSE related KPI's in order to target areas of improvementAssist in compiling government reporting for North AmericaUpdate the departments internal documentation libraryLiaise with plant staff on health, safety and environmental issuesPerform other duties as assignedMay require some travel to manufacturing sites within Toronto GTAShould be comfortable to wear personal protective equipment including safety shoes, safety glasses, hard hat and glovesQualifications, Skills and Education:Must be enrolled as a 3rd or 4th year student in a recognized post-secondary Co-op education program in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental ScienceStrong interest in health and safety and/or environmental studiesExcellent organization and analytical skillsStrong communication (written, verbal, presentation) and interpersonal skillsAbility to establish priorities and work effectively in a teamStrong technical writing skills to be able to create documents for an adult learning audienceStrong commitment to the Health and Safety and the EnvironmentPreferred Experience:Knowledge of health, safety and/or environmental legislation will be an assetPrior experience in an industrial manufacturing environment would be an assetAbility to read and interpret safety and environmental legislation and engineering documentsExcellent working knowledge of tools like MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), SharePoint, etc.Candidates must have their own transportation as travel may be requiredBenefits of Employment: IKO recognizes that its success is due to the strength of its employees.
