Your future starts here.PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:Diesel Mechanics complete preventative and scheduled maintenance on locomotives in a fast paced, safety oriented environment in compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined and excels at complex troubleshooting. Qualified Red Seal Mechanics will be entitled to a $10,000 signing bonus.POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:Maintain, inspect, service, test and repair all systems on locomotives, mobile equipment and vehicles used in plant, yard and road serviceDiagnose diesel engine malfunctions and make repairs within regulatory and company guidelinesComplete work in accordance with blueprints, schematic drawings and service manualsEvaluation of parts for reuse, repair or replacementNon-structural welding, adjustment and calibration to mechanical componentsModify and construct mechanical assembliesMaintenance of low voltage repairs on locomotive electrical systemsService locomotive cabs which include cleaning cab walls, locomotive toilets, windows and floorsOperate equipment such as overhead or mobile cranes, forklifts and hand toolsPOSITION REQUIREMENTS:High school diploma or general equivalencyValid driver's licensePossess one of the following: Red Seal in Heavy-Duty Mechanics, Automotive Technician, Agriculture Equipment Technician, Truck and Transport Technician, Recreation Vehicle Service Technician or Industrial Mechanic (Millwright), or possess a Unifor Local 101R cardAvailable to work all types of shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays in all weather conditionsAbility to pass the required written examinations, read and understand safety instructions, rules, regulations and other written or printed material in EnglishProven dedication to safety and ability to complete work within guidelines/rulesStrong communication skills (provide clear and concise instructions/directions)WHAT CPKC HAS TO OFFER:Flexible and competitive benefits packageCompetitive company pension and/or retirement plansEmployee Share Purchase PlanAnnual Fitness SubsidyPart-time Studies ProgramPRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:Medical and Drug TestingThis is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required.
