Job Description

The ideal candidate will support the full scope of Human Resources responsibilities and collaborate with management on strategic initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Safety Management Evaluate and implement effective safety policies and practices to ensure a safe working environment. Develop and maintain plant safety policies and procedures. Coordinate new employee orientation, including comprehensive safety training. Maintain ongoing safety training programs, such as WHMIS. Analyze workplace incidents and accidents, ensuring follow-up recommendations are implemented. Conduct job safety analyses and physical demands assessments for each role. Manage Workers'' Compensation claims, including appeals and cost relief opportunities. Review monthly Workers'' Compensation statements, requesting corrections as needed. Filing H&S statistics as required by law and company policy. Employee Relations and Labor Law Compliance Evaluate and apply employment law, collective agreements, and company policies to ensure fair treatment of employees. Assist in resolving employee grievances, complaints, and arbitrations. Organize regular Union/Management meetings, lead discussions, and track follow-ups on concerns. Establish and maintain CPAC (Conflict Prevention and Assistance Centre) protocols. Attend disciplinary meetings, document events, and ensure supervisors follow up on recommendations. Support supervisors/managers with conflict resolution and employee relations. Talent Management and Development Ensure the effective management of employment according to policy, law, and regulations. Provide a recruiting service to fill positions efficiently and effectively. Coordinate hourly and salaried employee terminations, preparing necessary documentation. Implement layoffs in accordance with collective agreement provisions. Onboarding, Performance Management, and Training Deliver comprehensive programs for new employees, monitor performance reviews, and develop improvement plans. Coordinate and monitor performance review processes. Develop performance improvement plans with supervisors as needed. Evaluate training needs, source internal/external programs, arrange training, or conduct in-house training. Ensure mandated programs are delivered and maintain relevant records. Compensation, Benefits, and General Administration Evaluate new salaried job descriptions using the Job Evaluation program. Participate in local salary surveys, sharing results with Head Office. Administer group pension and benefits programs, assisting employees as needed. Monitor claims, taking action when necessary. Maintain up-to-date job descriptions for all positions and necessary employment records. This role requires experience working with unions in manufacturing or distribution facilities.
