Their product is the industrys first programmable multi-wavelength photonics platform for custom AI datacenter fabrics. It leverages a CMOS silicon wafer scale platform producing 10 times higher bandwidth per fiber and 10 times lower power at iso-performance. They are looking for a Lead PIC Design Engineer to drive the design, development, and characterization of active photonic components within their cutting-edge photonic integrated circuits (PICs) for advanced optical communications. Responsibilities: Drive the end-to-end design of active silicon photonic devices, including Mach-Zehnder and resonant modulators, as well as high-speed photodiodes. Lead simulation and modeling efforts to refine active photonic structures for both performance and manufacturability. Partner with process and fabrication teams to align designs with foundry constraints and enhance process compatibility. Develop test strategies for active components and collaborate with test teams to validate functionality, analyze results, and implement improvements. Stay current on silicon photonics trends and apply new techniques to improve design quality. Document designs and results to support team knowledge sharing and future work. Mentor junior engineers and help foster a collaborative, high-performing team. Requirements: Masters or Ph.D. in Photonics or related fields. 10+ years of industrial experience in silicon photonics with a focus on active component design. Proven track record of designing, simulating, and optimizing active photonic devices in PICs. Proficiency in photonic simulation and design software such as Lumerical (FDTD, MODE, DEVICE), Tidy3D,and/or Ansys HFSS.
