Western LNG is seeking an experienced and driven environmental professional to serve as Manager, PRGT Environmental Planning & Permitting. This role will play a critical part in ensuring the PRGT project’s compliance with environmental regulations, advancing permitting strategies, and supporting environmental planning activities in alignment with project milestones. The successful candidate will work closely with regulatory bodies, Indigenous communities, consultants, and internal stakeholders to execute and manage the project’s environmental planning and permitting obligations.Key Responsibilities:Lead the development and execution of environmental permitting strategies for all phases of the PRGT project, ensuring alignment with applicable regulatory requirements (federal, provincial, municipal, and Nisga’a Nation).Oversee the preparation, submission, and tracking of environmental permit applications, amendments, and renewals.Support the integration of environmental planning into project design, construction, and operations, identifying risks and recommending mitigation measures.Liaise with regulators and Indigenous communities on environmental matters, supporting meaningful consultation and engagement.Manage and support the development of a team of environmental professionals. Coordinate and manage consultants and technical studies to support permit applications and environmental assessments.Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, construction, Indigenous relations, and legal, to align environmental requirements with project execution.Monitor compliance with issued permits and commitments, and coordinate environmental reporting to regulatory agencies.Lead the development and implementation of processes, tools and templates to support project compliance.Support the Sr. Director in responding to regulatory inquiries, audits, and inspections.Contribute to internal project planning, risk management, and decision-making processes as a subject matter expert on environmental permitting.QualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Planning, Biology, Engineering, or a related discipline.Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in environmental planning and permitting, preferably in large-scale infrastructure or energy projects in British Columbia (BC), Canada.Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and permitting frameworks in BC for provincially regulated energy projects, including the Environmental Assessment Act, Water Sustainability Act, the Fisheries Act, and other applicable federal and provincial regulations.Demonstrated experience with both Regulatory and Indigenous engagement in the context of regulatory permitting.Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and manage competing priorities.Experience with the construction of major pipeline, LNG, or other natural resource projects considered a strong asset. Recent experience managing a team would also be preferred.
