4 days ago Be among the first 25 applicantsThe Executive Director (ED) represents the Silver Star Resort Association (SSRA) and functions as Destination Silver Star (DSS). The SSRA is a nonprofit British Columbia registered society and is managed by a volunteer board of directors elected annually by residents and businesses of Silver Star Mountain Resort. SSRA receives annual funding from these constituents plus secures additional funding from other public and private sources for its annual operating budget.The DSS basic mandate is to use its annual budget to support and manage approved projects and events that enhance the attraction and desire for visitors and tourists to spend time at Silver Star Mountain Resort near Vernon, BC.SSRAs bylaw purpose statement: the purpose of the SSRA is to promote, facilitate and encourage the development, maintenance and operation of the Silver Star Resort Promotion Area.The ED role includes: skilled, strategic leadership, carrying out initiatives approved by the board of directors, securing additional funding, identifying projects for the initiatives, navigating and working with relevant government organizations, developing and managing stakeholder relationships, day to day management of a small team of employees, financial accountability and reporting to the board of directors.The ED responsibilities include:Work with the board of directors to develop an annual business plan, determine operation objectives, evaluate market trends and opportunities to enhance the resorts visibilityOversee the planning and implementation of DSS promotion campaigns (e.g., websites, social media, and select print media)Partner with industry stakeholders to expand DSS awareness (e.g. destination marketing organizations (DMOs), tour operators, and travel media)Serve as the SSRA's official spokesperson in all engagements and official relationshipsRepresent the SSRA in applicable and relevant regional government policy discussions, tourism forums, and community eventsPrioritize key relationship acumen with Silver Star Mountain Resort Management and Employee Team members to develop and maintain excellent relationshipsExplore, build and maintain respectful and dependable relationships with both Silver Star Mountain Resort and Vernon area businesses, municipalities, and Indigenous communitiesAnnually research, prioritize, apply for and secure additional funding from grants, sponsorships, and partnershipsStrategic advocacy for infrastructure, funding, and policies that support resort development including an annual goal of securing a minimum of $250,000 from additional restricted funding sourcesLead a dedicated, small core team of staff and seasonal contract project supportPractice business acumen and compliance with relevant legal, contractual, and policy requirementsAttend all SSRA board of director meetingsThe successful applicant of the role of ED will meet or exceed the following requirements and qualifications:Education & ExperienceBachelors degree or 7 years experience in business with exhibited professional development in the following disciplines: Marketing, Tourism, Technology, Business and Economic DevelopmentDemonstrable experience in project management and stakeholder contributionsSuccessful in supporting business relationship building and fundraisingFamiliarity with resort operations, ski, bike, hike, tourism, and rural destination development is a strong assetDemonstrate successfully working with a board of directors and multi-stakeholder business environmentUnderstands the money trail and the importance of accountability and reportingUses modern business technologies to maximize organization efficiency (e.g. apps, memos, spreadsheets, website, database, cloud tools, storage, accounting software, CRM, etc.)Efficient written business communicationFinancial acumen with the ability to manage budgets and fund development strategies.Self-starter with collaborative skillsWorking ConditionsFull-time position with flexibility for occasional evening/weekend meetings and events.Hybrid or office-based work arrangements depending on location.Travel within the region/province may be required periodically.How to ApplyPlease submit your resume and a cover letter outlining your relevant experience and interest in the position to by 1159PM on June 30th.Salary range is $90,000 to $110,000 based on experience.The Silver Star Resort Association dba Destination Silver Star is committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive and respectful workplace.
