Department Director Role The Halifax County Parks and Recreation Director will oversee operations, budget, and strategic planning for the department. Responsibilities include developing policies, evaluating programs, managing staff, inspecting facilities, and fostering community relationships. The director will seek grants and ensure compliance with grant requirements. Requirements: Candidates should have a Bachelors degree in recreation management, physical education, or related field, with at least five (5) years of supervisory experience in parks and recreation. Experience should include athletic and general recreation programming for all age groups. Valid North Carolina drivers license, CPR/First Aid certification, and AED training within 60 days of hire are required. Compensation: The salary range is $64,253 $81,357. Halifax County offers a comprehensive benefits package, including membership in the N.C. Local Government Employees Retirement System.
