Our material packages have been shipped to 26 countries and most provinces and states across North America.As we expand into new marketsincluding multiplex housing, Indigenous, affordable housing, and community facilitieswe are seeking a Principal Architect to lead design innovation, integrate BIM best practices, and oversee architectural deliverables on complex residential projects.About the RoleThis is a high-impact leadership position with broad responsibilities for advancing Linwoods design offerings and driving innovation. You will play a key role in shaping our architectural vision, leading high-value customer projects, and contributing to internal initiatives that improve our products, processes, and services.The ideal candidate combines technical excellence, creative vision, and strong leadership. This is a great role for a Senior Architect looking to make their mark in a new organization or a Principal Architect looking for a new challenge. You will report directly to the CEO/President and collaborate closely with design, construction, and executive teams.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign InnovationIdentify emerging needs and market trends across residential housing segmentsConceptualize residential and light commercial buildings that maximize functionality, aesthetics, and cost-efficiencyOptimize designs for diverse requirements, including affordability, accessibility, energy efficiency, and luxury featuresDeliver high-quality renderings and presentations of conceptual modelsCreate designs that leverage prefabricated components and collaborate with production teams to develop new assembliesResearch and integrate new products, materials, and technologiesCustomer ProjectsLead the design process for high-value custom projectsOversee site plans and topographical mapsLiaise with clients to understand requirements and provide project updatesProduce and oversee completion of drawing packages for permit and construction phasesSupport bid document preparation for larger-scale projectsInternal Leadership & Process ImprovementLead internal initiatives to enhance design processes and offeringsOversee BIM implementation, provide training, and champion best practicesIdentify and integrate new technologies to improve design timelines and qualityCollaborate with supply chain teams to incorporate new products into designsReview market data to optimize the design libraryPartner with construction and prefabrication teams to streamline building processesSupport estimation and quoting teams with design input for accurate pricingContribute to broader company-wide initiatives alongside the executive teamQualificationsMust-HaveMasters degree (or equivalent) in ArchitectureMinimum 10 years of architectural design experience, with 5+ years in a leadership role preferredExtensive experience in residential building design (single-family homes, multiplexes, townhomes, low-rise apartments)Expert user of CAD/BIM software (Revit preferred)Licensed Architect with a registered seal; authorized to sign Letters of Assurance/Certificates of Compliance for permit applications in BCStrong familiarity with Canadian building codes and structural engineering principlesExperience applying AI tools within BIM workflows (preferred)Understanding of interior and landscape design integrationSolid knowledge of current trends in the residential housing marketExperience collaborating with contractors and tradesExperience supporting pricing and estimation for a variety of project typesNice to HaveExperience in affordable housing and Indigenous housing projectsBackground in community facility or commercial project designExperience designing for prefabrication environmentsFamiliarity with quantity surveyingKnowledge of recreational or rural project requirementsExperience with projects across Canada and the United StatesCompensation & BenefitsBase salary: $140,000 $160,000+ commensurate with experienceThis role is designed with growth potential, including eligibility for a performance-based bonus structure aligned with company success and individual contributions.
