Job Description

Our client is a mid-sized civil construction company with a long-standing presence in the Lower Mainland, specializing in foundations, ground improvements, excavation, and shoring. They are seeking an experienced Shop & Equipment Manager to join their team in Surrey, BC. This is a great opportunity to lead and optimize equipment operations across multiple active projects while working closely with ownership in a collaborative and stable environment.Key Responsibilities:Oversee day-to-day operations of the equipment yard and shop, ensuring all drilling and excavation equipment is maintained, repaired, and operating safelyManage maintenance schedules, service coordination, and equipment deployment to minimize project disruptionsMaintain accurate records of equipment usage, condition, repairs, and parts inventorySupervise internal mechanics and subcontractors, ensuring proper licensing, training, and performance managementCoordinate with vendors and approve shop-related invoices, POs, and cost coding through systems like Eclipse and SiteMaxConduct regular site visits to verify equipment condition and support preventative maintenance effortsReport directly to ownership, contributing to monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reviews and budget planningIdeal Candidate Requirements:5+ years of experience in equipment maintenance and shop operations, preferably in civil constructionPrevious experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic or similar, with either leadership experience or interest in stepping into a management role.Strong knowledge of drilling and excavation equipment, such as hydro drills, air drills, and loadersProficiency in computer systems for equipment tracking, invoicing, and vendor coordinationExcellent organizational skills and the ability to manage both people and priorities effectivelyStrong communication and leadership skills, with experience managing shop staff and subcontractorsWhy Join This Company?Extended health, dental, life insurance, and RRSP matchingDirect access to ownership with a voice in operational decisionsWell-established, tight-knit company with long-term employees and a positive track record with past placementsSurrey-based office and shop, with work across the Lower MainlandInterested candidates are encouraged to send their resume in Word format to .
