We advocate on issues that impact housing affordability, land development, and the viability of the residential construction industry.As part of a three-tiered association model, BILD Alberta works in close partnership with local associations throughout Alberta and with the Canadian Home Builders Association at the national level.POSITION OVERVIEWBILD Alberta is seeking a Senior Director of Policy & Government Relations to lead its advocacy and policy team. This role will be instrumental in impacting provincial housing policy, maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, and ensuring the interests of BILD Alberta members are effectively represented.The Director will lead the development and execution of advocacy strategies, analyze legislation and regulatory changes, and coordinate with member companies, government departments, and industry partners to advance policy.KEY RESPONSIBLITIESDevelop and implement a proactive government relations strategy aligned with BILD Albertas strategic priorities.Lead provincial advocacy efforts with elected officials, public servants, and other policy influencers.Develop and implement strategies to profile the importance of the land development and residential construction industries.Stakeholder EngagementFoster and maintain strong relationships with government stakeholders, including Ministers, MLAs, municipal leaders, and senior bureaucrats.Collaborate with member companies and local BILD associations to align provincial and local advocacy goals.Provide resources and advice to the Board of Directors and committees.Identify / support strategies to engage partner organizations and other stakeholders in policy development and government relations.Policy DevelopmentPrepare policy briefs, position statements, and submissions on regulatory proposals.Lead industry consultations and contribute to the development of practical, evidence-based policy solutions.Assess and interpret new and existing legislation to understand implications on BILD Alberta members.Undertake research and cross-jurisdictional analysis to develop proactive policy solutions and government submissions.Communications and RepresentationRepresent BILD Alberta at a variety of industry events, political events and provincial consultations.Support the CEO and Director of Public Relations & Communications to draft speaking notes, op-eds, and advocacy materials for internal and external audiences.Write brief monthly advocacy updates to share with members in newsletters.QUALIFICATIONSBachelors degree in political science, Public Policy, Economics, Land Use Planning or a related field.5+ years of progressive experience in government relations, public policy, or political advocacy.Deep understanding of Albertas political landscape and regulatory environment.SKILLS AND ABILITIESExceptional organization skills.Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.Strong political acumen and the ability to engage decision-makers.The ability to synthesize complex issues and present them clearly to diverse audiences.Strategic thinker with experience in developing and implementing advocacy plans.Knowledge of housing, land development, and municipal / provincial regulatory systems is a strong asset.WHY JOIN BILD ALBERTA?Be at the forefront of policy that shapes housing and development in Alberta.Work with a passionate and mission-driven team, Board and industry.Enjoy a flexible hybrid work environment and competitive compensation package.Opportunities for growth, leadership, and impact.WORKING CONDITIONSAbility to work from homeOccasional evening and weekend workFrequent domestic travelSeniority levelSeniority levelDirectorEmployment typeEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionJob functionOtherNon-profit Organization ManagementReferrals increase your chances of interviewing at BILD Alberta Association by 2xWere unlocking community knowledge in a new way.
