Intergovernmental Relations Project ManagerLocation: 11821 123 St NW, Edmonton ABClosing Date: Until Suitable Candidate FoundPosition Status: Full-time (40 hours/week), 1 Year Employment Contract with the Possibility of ExtensionThe Otipemisiwak Mtis Government is recruiting an Intergovernmental Relations Project Manager to oversee the various programs and projects within our Intergovernmental Relations (IGR) Department. This position will oversee the advancement of the principles underpinning Truth and Reconciliation through the acquisition and archiving of data shared by Mtis residential school survivors and their families. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the team in collecting data through interviews, surveys, primary source materials, and other methods, with information provided voluntarily by individuals impacted by Canadas residential school system. The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the ethical, supportive, and sensitive implementation of project objectives, as well as ensuring the proper validation and archiving of information provided by citizens. The ideal candidate will possess well-rounded expertise in management, data collection, and research. Strong oral and written communication skills, along with interpersonal abilities to effectively engage with internal departments and external stakeholders, are essential.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee the daily operations of various programs and projects within the Intergovernmental Relations Department.Lead and direct employees towards the overarching objectives and plans of the department.Mentor team members through feedback, coaching, and conducting performance reviews.Perform supervisory duties including hiring and training staff, building staff capacity, delegating tasks, and developing/overseeing staff workplans.Oversee the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of project initiatives.Utilize appropriate research tools and methodologies to collect, analyze, and present data gathered from Mtis residential school survivors, with a focus on respectful and trauma-informed interviewing techniques.Oversee the ethical, supportive, and culturally sensitive implementation of project objectives.Discuss findings with Mtis Citizens in a professional, ethical, and confidential manner without compromising data security.Communicate effectively with senior staff, elected officials, and external stakeholders to provide regular updates, reports, and briefing materials related to project progress and community engagement.Collaborate closely with internal Otipemisiwak Mtis Government departments and affiliates, ensuring seamless execution of interdepartmental projects and shared objectives.Other duties as required or assigned.Skills & CompetenciesAbility to produce professional documents, reports, and presentations.Highly detail-oriented, with strong data entry and information management skills, and the ability to communicate findings clearly in both written and verbal formats.Proficient in computer and software applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and the ability to learn and utilize data collection and archiving tools.Strong leadership skills with recognized strength in leading and engaging teams and creating a culture that promotes the development of individual and organizational capacity.Demonstrated delegation skills, including the ability to assign tasks fairly, set clear expectations, and ensure team members have the resources needed to succeed.Willingness to learn and adapt, with a growth mindset and the ability to adopt new tools, techniques, or approaches to support evolving departmental needs.Self-motivated and accountable, with a commitment to meeting deadlines and following established policies and procedures within the Otipemisiwak Mtis Government.Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present sensitive information to various audiences in a respectful and professional manner.Culturally sensitive and compassionate, with the discretion and emotional intelligence required to engage with Mtis survivors, families, and community members while maintaining confidentiality.Knowledge of relevant policies, ethical standards, and best practices related to survivor rights, trauma-informed care, cultural safety, and the respectful collection and sharing of sensitive historical and personal information.Strong understanding of Mtis history, culture, and the intergenerational impacts of residential schools, with demonstrated cultural sensitivity and trauma-informed practice.An in-depth understanding of the Otipemisiwak Mtis Government and Mtis culture, people, and values is an asset.QualificationsPost secondary degree or diploma in Statistics, Indigenous Studies, Political Science, Sociology, or related field.
