Visit taghardware.com to see what we are about! **About the Role - Job Description** We are looking for an ambitious Industrial Design Engineer to help us design and create our industry-leading hardware. You will focus on developing, improving and creating concepts, prototypes and / or specifications to solve given challenges for hardware within the modular furniture industry. You will be a key part of the product development team and will be responsible for developing innovative, aesthetic and inspiring designs. In short, the objective is to create new products that will meet and/or exceed market expectations in both the United States and Canada. You are highly self-motivated, pro-active and have a working knowledge of current design tools and techniques used to bring highly functional products to market. You are exceptionally creative, with fantastic communication skills and excellent time management. To ensure success, you should be detail-oriented and have a solid understanding of industrial design processes including the use of solid modeling software, rendering and design for injection molding. Top candidates will exhibit critical thinking skills, strong problem-solving skills, and a meticulous attention to detail. **Duties and Responsibilities** * Design & develop products and mechanisms within the modular furniture industry. * Prototype and test systems for strength and failure modes. * Understand and create within established manufacturing processes including aluminum extrusion, powder coating, profile wrapping, die casting, metal forming, zinc, plastics and glass. * Understand design for manufacture and assembly including mold and tool design. * Experience with strength of materials and structures, fasteners and adhesives. * Ability to apply aesthetic sensitivity to mass produced furniture hardware. * An eye for design and a diligence in finding the best solution * Able to communicate design ideas visually via Computer Aided design (CAD), Solidworks, 3D rendering (Visualize); excellent sketching skills and verbally via brainstorming sessions with our team. * Project management from design through testing and final prototyping. **About You - Education and Experience** * A Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design or a related Engineering discipline * A strong mechanical aptitude coupled with a passion for design and aesthetics * Proficient with Solidworks / Visualize * 3D rendering skills * Experience in Mold and Tool design * Experience working with molded and extruded plastics, metal extrusions, castings and stampings * Experience in profile wrapping * Attention to detail, spread sheet analysis and strong math skills * Working knowledge of lean manufacturing / single piece work flow * Experience in taking a product from concept to completion * Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) * Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment * Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks * Highly organized and detail oriented * Good communication in English * Excellent written and verbal communication skills **TAG suits those who: ...** * are a quick study * are passionate problem solvers * are inquirers and life long learners * thrive when given the freedom and opportunity to achieve * go above and beyond every day * focus on the essentials * dont need to prove themselves * are relaxed and confident * can keep things in perspective * appreciate an open dialogue with colleagues * are easy to work with **Like what youre hearing so far, but still wondering if TAG Hardware is right for you?
