Fire Protection Senior Designer Edmonton, ABUp to $100K (experience dependent) + Benefits + RRSP MatchingPermanent, Full-TimeOur client a well-established and growing fire protection systems contractor based in Edmonton is currently seeking a Fire Protection Senior Designer to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with an industry leader known for delivering turnkey fire safety solutions, from design through to installation, commissioning, and maintenance. With a focus on technical excellence and safety, they provide services across a broad range of fire protection systems in compliance with ULC and NFPA standards.As part of their ongoing growth strategy, theyre looking to bring on a skilled designer with strong technical abilities, coordination experience, and the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign fire sprinkler systems in compliance with NFPA codes and building regulationsDevelop detailed layout drawings using AutoCAD and HydraCAD/AutoSPRINKPerform hydraulic calculations to determine sprinkler head spacing, piping sizing, and fire pump requirementsConduct system assessments using hydraulic modeling tools such as AFT FathomCoordinate fire protection design with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural disciplinesPrepare material take-offs, fabrication drawings, and submittal documentationReview and verify designs from other team members for accuracy, compliance, and constructabilityAttend coordination meetings and liaise with project managers and other stakeholdersCandidate ProfileDiploma or degree in Engineering Technology or a related field; strong candidates with a high school diploma and significant relevant experience will also be consideredGraduates from Senecas Fire Protection program with strong AutoCAD/Revit capabilities are preferred25+ years of relevant design experience in fire protection or related disciplinesProficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and NavisworksHands-on experience with fire sprinkler design software (HydraCAD, AutoSPRINK) and hydraulic tools like AFT FathomFamiliarity with NFPA standards, local building codes, and FM Global requirementsBIM/3D drafting experience considered an assetNICET Level II certification is an advantageExposure to project management platforms such as Procore is a plusStrong communication skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindsetWhats On OfferCompetitive base salary up to $100,000 (depending on experience)Comprehensive health benefits and Employee Assistance ProgramEmployer-matched RRSP contributionsOpportunities for professional development and career advancementA supportive team culture that values innovation, diversity, and inclusionIf you're a detail-oriented designer with a strong background in fire protection systems, this is an excellent opportunity to join a stable, growing company with a stellar reputation in the industry.To apply or learn more, get in touch today.
