**POSITION TITLE: SENIOR PROJECT ENGINEER** **REPORTS TO: MANAGER, PROJECTS** **DEPARTMENT:PROJECT ENGINEERING** **Position Summary** The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for defining the projects objectives, monitoring KPI and ensuring quality throughout the project life cycle. The Senior Project Engineer will ensure project execution success by adhering to health and safety, quality, schedule, and cost control guidelines. This is a customer-focused position and you will be responsible for the day-to-day interaction with the client and ensuring their requirements are taken care of. **Duties and Responsibilities** The role of the Senior Project Engineer encompasses many activities including: * Ensuring proper government, industry, and regulations are applied and followed during the design and execution of the project. * Communicate and work with internal and external technical groups to ensure the delivery of the project meets the agreed-upon requirements. * Review of client technical specifications and requirements. * Ensures accurate and timely reporting standards are maintained throughout the project(s). * Attend project meetings and prepare client-required reporting as required. Interface and communicate with the client as you are the single point of contact. * Ensures appropriate quality and integrity of product design, including taking responsibility for the P.Eng stamping of required drawings. * Review engineering deliverables from various departments. Provide technical input during squad check sessions. Ensure that client requirements are incorporated into the deliverables. * Prepare client change order and other various project-related documents. * Communicates effectively between various departments such as procurement, quality control, and shop. * Ensure that all required engineering deliverables are delivered on time and budget. * Prepares and issues purchase requisitions to the procurement group as required and obtains comparative pricing for equipment where agreed. * Incorporates previous projects Lessons Learned into the engineering of current projects. * Reviews, approves, and issues, via Document Control, all drawings according to 5Blue drawing approval procedures and in following project schedule. * Reviews and approves vendor drawings as required with support from internal discipline groups Review technical specifications to aid in the preparation of bids * Working with clients and vendors. * Mentoring junior engineers and sharing technical knowledge with other staff as required. * Other duties as required. **Direct Reports** The Senior Project Engineer is a motivated member of a team working together in the most efficient manner. The position has no direct reports. **Tools, Systems, Equipment and Machinery** Personal Computer/laptop with Microsoft Office, and internal estimating software. **Physical Requirements** Sitting for long periods at a time focused on a computer screen or CAD drawings. **Travel Requirements** Occasional travel within the Province of Alberta. **Working Environment** Works in a controlled office environment. Occasional visits to the fabrication shop which requires appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment). **Communications** Effectively communicates relevant project information to the team. Interacts respectfully and cooperatively. Attends regular status meetings with the project team. Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion. Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully. **Qualifications** * Bachelors Degree or Technical diploma in mechanical engineering, or equivalent, from an accredited university. * Registration as a P. Eng., P.Tech,. P.L Eng. in Alberta is required and must be eligible for professional registration in other Canadian provinces/territories. * Minimum of 8 years experience in project engineering management experience or equivalent combination of training and experience is necessary (preferably gas processing or manufacturing related). * Must be fluent in English and be able to communicate effectively. * Strong working knowledge of engineering and project-related software e.g. AutoCAD, Inventor, Pro/Engineer. * Strong knowledge of ASME / ANSI / API Codes. * Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). * Field experience or operations in Oil and Gas facilities is an asset.
