WellFort Community Health Services is seeking a 0.6 (3 days/week with potential opportunity to work 5 days/week) full-time equivalent, permanent Dentist to join our dynamic team! Join a purpose-driven team where high quality, inclusive healthcare arent just values, theyre the mission!WellFort CHS is a non-profit, values-based organization that provides health promotion and prevention programs, primary and oral health care and works with local residents and other agencies to increase community capacity.RESPONSIBILITIES:Direct Care Performs complete oral examinations, formulates comprehensive treatment plans, informsclients of, and obtains consent for treatment plans including hygiene. Performs recall exams and works in conjunction with hygiene team to ensure comprehensive oral health of clients on a regular basis. Performs dental treatments such as diagnostic, restorations, crown and bridge, dentureservices, endodontic, periodontal, and preventative care. Performs universal precaution procedures for infection control. Prescribes antibiotics and administers local anesthetics. Orders and interprets x-rays. Responsible for fabrication of dental prosthetic appliances either individually or in conjunctionwith the denturist. Consultation with other health professionals as required in establishing a diagnosis and plan.Health Promotion and Education Identifies trends or issues related to the health status of priority groups and uses the informationin planning and advocacy work. Actively participates in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of healthpromotion and education and support programs that are relevant and meaningful to thecommunity served by WellFort at off-site locations, and in collaboration with community partners. Acts as a resource to WellFort staff and in partner/community organizations on specific andgeneral issues regarding injury prevention and chronic disease management. Promotes and increase awareness of health promotion activities with clients including riskassessment, lifestyle modifications, and assesses readiness for change.Administration Charts in accordance with the clinics dental charting guidelines and standards as set by RoyalCollege of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO). Obtains complete medical history and verifies/applies medical history prior to treatment. Contributes to policy/protocol development, in relation to health care service delivery and/orprofessional practice. Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of government guidelines, acts and legislation affecting client care. Stays current on evidence-based strategies that improve health. Supervises care provided by Dental Assistants. Participates in chart reviews and case conferences. Participates in research when opportunities arise. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned from time to time.QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS Degree in Doctor of Dental Surgery, licensed and in good standing with RCDSO. Experience in a community dental clinic or public health environment is an asset. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with clients and staff in a community clinic. Strong technical, administrative and interpersonal skills. Familiar and comfortable working in a values-based organization. Supervisory or leadership experience is an asset.
