The CompanyOur client, Sheridan Electric, is a full-service contractor, specializing in a complete range of electrical services. This includes industrial automation, electrical contracting, control panels, technical services, preventive maintenance, and 24/7 emergency response. From their 3 locations in Mississauga, Hamilton, and London, they service the industrial and automation sectors across southern Ontario. Sheridan is COR certified and accredited by multiple contractor safety compliance programs including ISN, Avetta, Contractor Check, Avetta, Cognibox, Browz, and more.The RoleSheridan has a unique opportunity for a skilled Health & Safety Manager or Senior Coordinator to fulfill a contract role for 18 months. We're excited to present this role, given that talented people and growing companies will often find a way to make a working relationship long-term when the circumstances are right.The role's responsibilities require a foundation in health and safety legislation, auditing standards, hazard management and leadership and include:Chair and manage Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings.Conduct or support annual COR Internal Audit and coordinate external audits.Deliver safety orientation training to new workers.Review, develop, and update H&S policies (at least annually or as legislation changes).Deliver annual safety training and company-wide initiatives.Provide technical guidance on safety questions and legislation interpretation.Assist with and review Project Hazard Assessments (PHAs).Conduct regular site inspections and audits.Lead or support workplace investigations and initiate corrective/disciplinary action when required.Develop new health and safety procedures or tools (e.g., forms, checklists, programs).Perform annual inspections and testing of fall protection.Report workplace injuries and coordinate return-to-work plans in alignment with WSIB requirements.Manage a broad range of administrative activities for the H&S program.The CandidateThe most successful candidate will have:Knowledge of OHSA and applicable construction regulations.Policy and procedure development.Investigative and analytical skills.Leadership and facilitation (e.g., leading meetings, training sessions).A strong attention to detail and organizational skills.The ability to manage digital systems and safety documentation platforms.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Competence in record-keeping and document control.Proficiency in SiteDocs, Avetta, ISN, Contractor Compliance, and Outlook tools.Training and certification should include:JHSC Certified Member Part 1 and Part 2 in ConstructionFall Protection Equipment InspectorWorking at HeightsStandard First AidCOR Essentials / AuditorBasic Auditing PrinciplesIntroduction to Hazard & Risk ManagementNCSO/NHSA designation would be a positive addition as well
