This role includes offering confidential advice, investigating complaints under the boards Code of Conduct, and issuing public reports. The Commissioner plays a critical role in maintaining transparency, accountability, and public trust in board governance.Key Responsibilities:Advise trustees on ethical conduct, conflict of interest, and applicable legislation.Receive and investigate complaints related to the trustee Code of Conduct.Submit findings and recommendations in formal reports to the board.Assist in reviewing governance policies and conduct annual reporting.Qualifications:Post-secondary degree in law, public administration, ethics, or a related field; legal background strongly preferred.Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in investigations, ethics, or governance.Expert knowledge of the Education Act, Municipal Conflict of Interest Act, and Ontario Regulation 306/24.Demonstrated ability to conduct fair and impartial investigations.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Fluency in English and French (oral and written) is required.Must meet independence criteria set by Ontario Regulation 306/24 (e.g., not a current employee or trustee of the board, or related to one).We thank all candidates in advance.
