Learn more at About the Position This role involves ensuring the safety of the ADM facility concerning employee health and safety and compliance. The peer relationships include the Plant Manager, Production Managers, Quality Assurance Manager, front-line supervisors, and others. The position requires strict adherence to deadlines with reports due to internal and external managers. Attention to detail is crucial, especially when managing multiple tasks within 24 hours. Duties and Responsibilities Achieve the goal of ''Only Zero is Acceptable'' through employee engagement, leading by example, and fostering innovation. Maintain a safe work environment by applying company standards, correcting unsafe behaviors and conditions, and conducting regular inspections. Assist in accident and incident investigations and follow up on corrective actions. Promote Near Miss reporting. Have a working knowledge of Provincial and Federal law. Possess a strong foundation related to Joint Health and Safety Committees. Collaborate with the EHS Area Manager to implement and enforce ADM health and safety principles. Provide mandatory training to managers, hourly colleagues, and entrepreneurs. Ensure site compliance with all regulations, policies, and guidelines of ADM, WSIB, and government authorities. Develop, implement, and maintain programs, records, and reports related to health and safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance. Communicate daily safety, food safety, and environmental issues to management. Oversee client, third-party, and regulatory audits, ensuring readiness and compliance. Implement corrective actions for deficiencies identified during audits. Maintain a working knowledge of plant operations related to food processing. Ability to walk, climb ladders, use tools, work in confined spaces, and extreme temperatures. Work in both office and industrial environments for extended periods. Willingness to travel and/or relocate to other ADM facilities. Availability for sporadic off-hours and weekend work as needed. Provide status updates and suggestions for improvements. Required Skills and Qualifications Excellent command of computers, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Ability to work effectively in a team. Working knowledge of plant operations related to food processing. Ability to walk, climb ladders, use tools, work in confined spaces, and extreme temperatures. Capacity to work in both office and industrial settings for long durations. Willingness to travel and/or relocate to other ADM facilities. Availability for off-hours and weekend work as required. Ability to communicate updates and suggest improvements effectively. Education or Work Experience BCSP Certification is an asset. Certified in First Aid, CPR, & AED Training. Minimum of five years of experience in a dedicated health and safety role with knowledge of environmental/regulatory compliance, or a degree in Safety. Certified Fire Protection Specialist. Background in Chemical Engineering, Environmental/Environmental Health Engineering, or Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene. Bachelors degree in a relevant field.
