Worldwide Opportunities in Regulation and Consumer Protection Opportunity Type Select Opportunity Type Location Select Location Region Select Region Engagement and Government Relations Consultant College of Nurses of Ontario Position: Engagement and Government Relations Consultant Job Title: Engagement and Government Relations Consultant Team: Governance & External Relations Job Status: Permanent Eligibility: Open to any qualified applicant Engagement and Government Relations Consultant Helps CNO build and maintain relationships with government system partners and other health system partners, including the public, employers and registrants for purposes advancing CNOs impact on nursing and the health system including health human resource planning. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Engagement Strategy Collaborates with internal teams and key system partners to help develop and maintain a comprehensive engagement framework Systematically tracks external event attendance (including requests for CNO speakers and presentations, and presentation proposals submitted by staff) Defines clear goals, objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) for engagement activities Integrates best practices and innovative approaches to ensure the framework is inclusive, transparent, and effective Leads and manages initiatives and projects related to engagement, including coordinating cross-functional teams to achieve objectives, monitor and report on project progress and outcomes; Creates detailed plans and guidelines for the implementation of the engagement framework, ensuring alignment with CNOs purpose and strategic priorities Develops and implements evaluation frameworks to assess the impact of engagement activities, including qualitative and quantitative measurement strategies Prepares detailed reports and presentations on the engagement framework and its outcomes for the Leadership Team, Council and key system partners Government Relations Develops and maintains the strategies to engage with the Ministry/Minister and other government system partners Tracks the Registrar/Executive Director & CEOs calendar related to scheduled meetings with the Ministry and other government system partners and ensures the preparation of relevant updates/materials in relation to these meetings. Support knowledge sharing across the organization as it relates to government meetings Monitors and analyzes legislative and regulatory developments that may impact CNO and prepares government relations updates for the Chief Officers Prepares briefing materials, reports, and presentations to communicate CNOs positions and priorities Coordinates and attends meetings and follow-up on action items Internal Collaboration: Works closely with internal departments, including Analytics & Research, DEI, Communications, Strategy, Regulatory Policy, Program Design, and regulatory programs to align engagement efforts with organizational priorities Provides regular updates to the Leadership Team on government relations and engagement with key system partners activities and outcomes. Contributes to the development of the organizations strategic plan with a focus on engagement Analyzes data to identify trends, strengths, areas for improvement, and the overall impact of engagement activities Monitors the external environment to ensure CNOs engagement and external relations strategies are effective. Fosters a culture of continuous improvement by promoting the use of evaluation findings to drive decision-making and strategic planning REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience Completion of a graduate degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Communications/Journalism, Nursing, Public Policy, Business Administration, or relevant experience. Minimum 5 years work experience in a similar role including engaging with diverse system partners and resulting in a deep understanding of healthcare system and partners provincially and nationally. Communication briefs senior organizational leaders and interacts with government and external partners by communicating complex information in a compelling way; uses strategies to communicate and work with those who may have different and conflicting needs; engages various partners/parties in CNOs work and in projects and initiatives, determines the communication delivery and approach, and adjusts approach when difficulty in understanding arises. Consulting and Advising guides others through complex issues and recommendations involving a significant amount of analysis and risk assessment; develops strategies and solutions for multi-dimensional and complex issues by considering its risk, urgency, scope and sensitivity, and contextual issues Demonstrated intermediate-level proficiency in MS Office such as Word and Excel.
