The Role Reporting to the Vice-President, Administrative Services, the Associate Vice-President (AVP), Facilities and Sustainable Infrastructure, provides strategic leadership supporting all of Sheridans physical assets spanning 3 campuses. Leading a team of 76 staff and overseeing complex and diverse facilities and equipment on each of the unique campuses, the AVP takes a forward-thinking and collaborative approach to campus operations and planning. This includes responsibility for land and building management, asset planning, maintenance programs, custodial services, building systems, utility plant operations, capital budgeting, energy conservation, environmental protection, and sustainability initiatives. The AVP brings deep expertise in complex capital projects and infrastructure systems, with a strong track record of fostering inclusive, accessible, and future-focused campus environments. Working together with residence partners, supports the delivery of a robust and inclusive living and learning environment. Key Areas Of Responsibility Include Strategic Campus Leadership Leads the development and implementation of the campus master plan, asset management, and space optimization to align with Sheridans strategic objectives. Capital Planning and Budgeting Oversees long-term capital planning and budgeting in collaboration with Finance, ensuring responsible resource allocation. Operational Oversight Provides direction and leadership for campus operations, facilities, equipment, custodial services, capital projects, and energy efficiency programs. Collaborative Partnership Acts as a strategic partner across Sheridan to ensure flexible and efficient use of space and resources, including opportunities for monetization, in close collaboration with senior leaders. Sustainability Champions sustainability and environmental stewardship while leading initiatives aligned with future-focused learning environments. Qualifications And Experience While the Search Committee recognizes that no one candidate is likely to meet all qualifications in equal measure, those listed below are desirable and will be used to compare candidates. Skills and experience often gained through a masters degree in engineering, architecture, business, or another related field. Demonstrated success in maintaining high-quality facilities and operations in a complex organization with multiple facilities and specialized equipment. Extensive experience in leading corporate resource planning and capital projects. Knowledge of how to integrate technology and complex systems to maximize operational efficiency. Expertise in managing employees in a unionized environment, including supervision and performance management, coaching and training, and employee engagement. Demonstrated success in sustainability initiatives and change management. Demonstrated commitment to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace. Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and conflict-resolution skills. Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and facilities compliance standards.
