The City of Ontario is recruiting Senior Associate Engineers to join our team. As a Senior Associate Engineer with the City of Ontario, you''ll be working in a fun and fast paced environment and be exposed to countless projects including the commercial, industrial, and residential development of 8,000 acres of land, which is estimated to bring in over 150,000 new residents to the City of Ontario over the next 30 years. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate for the OMUC Water Resources Division will have experience working with groundwater, sewer, and recycled water systems. They will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, thrive in a group setting and fast paced environment, and can organize/prioritize their work. Can interpret and make recommendations using multiple lines of evidence with respect to complex agreements, legal documents, engineering technical studies, grants, and contracts. Will be proficient in working with varying stakeholders such as engineering consultants, contractors, developers, other City departments, public agencies, regulators and the public in general. Will be able to manage external and internal conflict with tact and diplomacy. The ideal candidate for the Public Works Engineering Department will be a person who enjoys working in a fun and friendly team environment. NOTE: The Senior Associate Engineer classification is a common classification used in multiple City departments. This recruitment will result in an eligibility list which will be used to fill current and future vacancies within this classification. The current vacancies exist in the Water Resources Division of the Ontario Municipal Utilities Company (OMUC) and the Engineering Department of the Public Works Agency. The Following Procedures Will Apply The Eligibility List will consist of both internal and external applicants who meet the qualifications and successfully complete any required selection processes. The hiring department has the discretion to consider internal applicants on the Eligibility List prior to considering external candidates on the Eligibility List. The City of Ontario reserves the right, if necessary, to accept only the first one hundred (100) applications from applicants that meet the qualification guidelines below. Completed applications will be reviewed and only qualified applicants whose qualifications best meet or exceed the requirements of the position and needs of the City will be invited to participate further in the selection process. Water Resources Division The Senior Associate Engineers assigned to the OMUC, Water Resources Division will have the opportunity to manage the multi-year project planning and permitting effort including complex multi-million dollar recycled & potable water supply projects. This position would be a technical expert and responsible for managing the planning effort of these water resources engineering projects in coordination with the OMUC Water Production, Water Quality, and Engineering divisions. This position is part of a group that is responsible for ensuring the City has adequate water supplies now and to support growth into the future. This group also leads the Citys effort in coordinating with local entities such as the Chino Basin Watermaster and the Inland Empire Utilities Agency (IEUA). Additionally, the historic California drought has increased the efforts necessary to ensure the Citys compliance with current and future water conservation requirements. Public Works Engineering Department The Senior Associate Engineers assigned to the Public Works Engineering Department will have the opportunity to work in the Engineering Services Division, which oversees the plan check, inspection and permitting processes for all work within the public right of way; the Capital Improvement Project group which includes overseeing a pavement management program of over $7 million dollars per year; the design and construction of a master planned storm drain improvements ranging in value from $5 million to over $40 million; the Land Development Section, managing millions of square feet of industrial warehouses or master planned communities encompassing multiple maps and hundreds of residential units; or the Traffic/Transportation Division, responsible for the Citys traffic signals, signage and striping and traffic and transportation related improvements.
