(Al-Pac) is seeking a Certification & Sustainability Reporting Advisor to work out of our mill site and/or office near Athabasca or in St. Albert, Alberta. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the implementation of Al-Pacs environmental, social and governance (ESG) framework, including coordinating enterprise sustainability and responsible operations certifications such as ISO, Ecovadis, Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) Program, etc. The position conducts internal certification audits, coordinates external certification audits and, in collaboration with other business areas, sustainability reporting and responses to customer and other external stakeholder questionnaires, surveys and information requests related to sustainability and responsible operations. The Advisor also provides advice and guidance to teams across the organization on achieving and maintaining compliance with certification standards within the scope of the position.Who Are We?Al-Pac is the largest single-line kraft pulp producer in North America. We are continuously exploring new and innovative ideas, while delivering premium products with a commitment to strong environmental stewardship and corporate social responsibility a commitment that is demonstrated by our long-standing Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification*.Role ResponsibilitiesCertification & AuditsConduct internal certification audits and coordinate external certification audits, supporting compliance with standards for certifications including, but not limited to, ISO and CTPAT.Develop and communicate internal audit reports.Coordinate with external service providers and internal teams to schedule and prepare for external certification audits within the scope of the position.Coordinate external audits, ensuring necessary documentation and resources are in place and participants are prepared.Support development of and monitor corrective action plans resulting from internal and external audits.Maintain and manage certification-related documentation.Perform daily responsibilities to ensure smooth workflow and task completion.Align performance to key performance indicators (KPIs) to maintain operational excellence.Continuously assess and seek to improve efficiency and quality within the scope of role.ESG/Sustainability ReportingSupport the Manager to implement Al-Pacs ESG framework, including coordinating sustainability reporting.Collect and monitor ESG data in alignment with Al-Pacs ESG reporting framework and ESG/sustainability standards.Support ESG reporting efforts by compiling data, preparing reports and creating presentations to communicate progress and impact.Coordinate development of an annual sustainability report.Coordinate Al-Pac's Ecovadis sustainability rating submission, including making recommendations for improvement; at the direction of the Manager, advise other business areas on the development of action plans based on rating results.Stakeholder Relations Collaborate with other business areas to coordinate external stakeholder questionnaires, surveys and other information requests related to sustainability and responsible operations, ensuring timely and accurate responses.Compliance & AdvisoryAdvise on compliance requirements and best practices to support adherence to certification standards.Collaborate with other business areas to identify and recommend improvements to maintain compliance with evolving certification and sustainability standards.Collaborate with other business areas to review systems and manuals used to maintain certification and provide feedback to management system owners regarding compliance with certification standards.Support internal teams to prepare for certification standards changes.Role RequirementsPost secondary degree in environmental science, sustainability, engineering or a related field.Minimum 3 years of experience in sustainability, certification management, or environmental compliance.OtherStrong knowledge of ISO 14001, 9001 and 17025 standards. Experience with ISO management systems. ISO auditor training is considered an asset. Knowledge of CTPAT certification is considered an asset. Knowledge of ESG reporting and disclosure standards, frameworks, requirements and best practices.
