Job Requisition ID: 72688 Ministry: Energy and Minerals Location: Edmonton or Calgary Full or Part-Time: Full Time Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week Permanent/Temporary: Ongoing Scope: Open Competition Closing Date: July 30, 2025 Classification: Management Manager Zone 2 Salary: $3,339.00 to $4,493.32 bi-weekly ($87,147 - $117,275/year) The Strategic and Market Access (SAMA) Division responsible for leading work on strategic priorities such as market access, developing Alberta''s energy strategic direction, implementing the government''s natural gas vision, strategic foresight and economic analysis. The division supports the policy and legislative coordination process, as well as boards, agencies, and commissions. The Natural Gas Strategy and Engagement Branch is the lead group supporting the mandate to develop competitive low-carbon natural gas products, including Hydrogen, and initiatives that will support a robust, competitive and sustainable natural gas industry in the emerging de-carbonized energy landscape. The branch also ensures appropriate integration and alignment of strategic policies involving natural gas and key development pathways (like hydrogen, petrochemicals, plastic circular economy) across the Government of Alberta. **Role Responsibilities** ------------------------- Are you ready to lead Albertas strategic efforts in the low-carbon energy transition? Alberta Energy is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and forward-thinking leader to join our team as the Manager, Strategy and Stakeholder Relations. Reporting to the Director, Natural Gas Strategy, you will lead a highly skilled team and play a key leadership role in shaping Albertas position on low-carbon natural gas and hydrogen development, policy, and stakeholder engagement. In this impactful role, you will develop and lead strategic initiatives that align with the Government of Albertas energy goals, while balancing industry interests and public priorities. You will bring your political acumen, systems thinking, and collaborative mindset to drive strategic outcomes in a complex, fast-evolving energy landscape. Key Responsibilities: * Lead the development and implementation of low-carbon natural gas and hydrogen strategies that align with Albertas energy priorities and climate goals. * Build and maintain strong relationships across government, industry, and civil society to gather input, build consensus, and communicate Albertas energy policy direction. * Provide expert advice and strategic recommendations to the Director, Deputy Minister, and Executive team, ensuring decisions are informed, aligned, and impactful. * Coordinate policy work across departments, branches, and agencies to ensure a consistent, systems-based approach to energy policy development. * Supervise and mentor a team of analysts and policy professionals to foster a high-performing, inclusive, and collaborative work environment. Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis. The following will be considered assets:. * A Master''s degree or Project Management Certification will be considered an asset. * Knowledge of natural gas processes and hydrogen manufacturing, transportation and use would be an asset. * Knowledge of Albertas energy landscape, including natural gas, hydrogen, and related government processes. * Knowledge of emerging trends in low-carbon technologies, including hydrogen, renewable natural gas, and global decarbonization strategies. * Proven leadership in managing teams, projects, or initiatives to deliver results.
