Reporting to the Manager, Transit Service Systems, this position leads a team of professionals who lead transit civil engineering projects, provide engineering support and professional guidance to other sections throughout Transit Service Systems, and coordinate with external partners who plan, design, and build projects that have an impact on Calgary Transit facilities. Primary duties include: * Coordinate and deliver the Policy, Procedure, and Specifications development process within Transit Service Systems, including Light Rail Transit (LRT) Design Guidelines and engineering record management. * Coordinate cross-corporate input from other Calgary Transit divisions, Business Units and third-party partners/interested parties and resolve conflicting information to provide guidance to other departments and third-party entities delivering capital projects that impact Calgary Transit''s LRT right-of-way. * Support the coordination of projects in transition from construction to operation, including C-Train and MAX network expansion projects. * Coordinate resources, manage contractors, and ensure compliance with design specifications, safety regulations, and environmental standards. * Oversee inputs to civil engineering and transit projects, including utilities, environmental, and third-party agreements. * Oversee project teams to ensure the project objectives, budget, schedule, and performance standards are achieved in compliance with City of Calgary policies, procedures, standards and specifications. * Manage record drawings for Calgary Transit''s civil infrastructure. * Review third-party construction submittals to ensure compliance with corporate safety, project management standards, controls and environmental requirements. * Coordinate planned closures of the C-Train and MAX networks and oversee the work of a Construction Coordination Committee. * Lead and mentor a team of Leaders, Project Engineers, Technicians and contractors. * Manage and report on the status of programs and projects, Annual Investment Plans and risk registers. * Prepare or participate in the preparation of briefing documents, memos and presentations to Senior Management, Executive Leadership Team and Council. **Qualifications** * A degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. * You must have at least 10 years of relevant professional engineering experience obtained after receiving your P. Eng. Designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) **complete with practicing status** OR licensure **and practicing status** by the first day of work **Click here for more details**. * Preference will be given to candidates whose 10 years of relevant professional engineering experience is specific to light rail transit infrastructure development, including planning, design, and delivery. * Experience in risk management and quality control, and a thorough understanding of project management processes and methodologies. * Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential, as the role requires balancing technical expertise with strategic planning and interest holder engagement. * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with competing priorities with a reasonable and balanced problem-solving approach. * Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and under pressure to meet tight deadlines. **Pre-employment Requirements** * Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. **Workstyle:** This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees.
