As a Journeyperson I - Autobody Technician, you will be responsible for designing, building, repairing, modifying, painting, refinishing and adjusting all types of metal automotive bodies including heavy trucks and equipment, pick-ups trucks, compact cars, ambulances, auxiliary units and accessories. Primary duties include: * Use and operate a wide variety of power and hand tools. * Paint spray equipment in accordance with blueprints, patterns, or specification manuals. * Perform brush and spray painting, gas welding, cutting, sawing, filling, forming, sanding, filing, smoothing, riveting, reinforcing, upholstering, glass installation, and related body shop tasks. * Use tools such as hand and power grinders, sanders, saws, files, hammers, dollies, buffers, porto-power jacks, drills, riveting guns, oxy-acetylene welding equipment. * Work with metals, solders, fillers, plastics, paints, cleaners, solvents. **Qualifications** * A fully ticketed Journeyperson Auto Body Technician Diploma or equivalent Interprovincial Red Seal recognized by Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training. * A valid Class 5 Driver''s License (or provincial equivalent), with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending. * Ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator''s permit. * Ability to obtain an air brake (Q) endorsement is required. * Ability to lift 20kg (45lbs) on a regular basis is required. * Demonstrated mechanical aptitude will be considered as an asset. * Previous training or experience in welding, upholstering and framing, and/or wheel alignment will be considered assets. * You are a strong communicator who takes initiative and demonstrates well developed planning and organizational skills. * Success in this role requires you to demonstrate sound judgment in safety standards, excellent technical proficiency, interpersonal skills, customer service, and high work standards**.** **Working Conditions:** Auto body shop working with a variety of pneumatic tools, welding equipment, hydraulic rams, and frame straightening equipment. Exposure to noise and fine dust particulates. Paint booth with higher-than-normal temperatures. Works with a variety of chemicals, painting products, solutions, and flammable products. Personal protective equipment and adherence to WHMIS precautions required. **Pre-employment Requirements** * Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. **Pre-employment Drug Test:** An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.
