BIM/CAD Technologist Our client, a leading commercial design firm in downtown Toronto, is looking to add an Intermediate BIM/CAD Technologist to their team. This position is paying a salary commensurate with experience, plus a competitive benefits and vacation package.PRIMARY FUNCTION:The Intermediate BIM/AutoCAD Technologist is responsible for maintaining the CAD and BIM standards in the office. This person will create and execute complete construction documentation of working drawings, alongside the Senior BIM/CAD Technologists, Senior Designers, and design teams to maintain design excellence. They are dedicated and committed to their craft and uphold the drawing standards throughout the studio.EXPERIENCE:Must have 5-7 years Intermediate level experience using computer-aided design and drafting applications, (AutoCAD and Revit) to prepare detailed working drawings.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKSThis positions responsibilities include but are not limited to the following items:WORKING DRAWING:Works with the design team to establish scope of workReviews sketches or preliminary drawings, created by designers illustrating project featuresExamines the continuity of designs through multiple drawings and views to confirm the alignment and placement of drawing elementsMakes rough sketches to work out, develop and explain ideasExecutes and manages project drawing sheet setup and creating well laid out assembly of drawings detailing plans, elevations, door schedules, architectural and millwork details as required per studio standardsExecutes and manages quality control for completeness and adherence to studio standards of all drawings producedCollaborates with Senior BIM/CAD Technologist and Senior Designer on clientsbudget/timelines to strategize appropriate detailing/constructionSupport the team in coordinating consultant drawings, with Designer input and direction through CAD or BIM (including architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing; acoustic and sprinkler drawings and other specialty consultants)Has a working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and is responsible for flagging/helping to resolve any concernsProvide technical support for Autodesk enabling software applications to the project teamProvides support for plotting and electronic file submissionsTENDERING & CONSTRUCTION:Executes in all aspects of construction administration including shop drawing reviews, responding to RFIs, ongoing consultant coordination meetings, etc. with design and technical teamExecutes in the tendering process and drawing distribution for contractors with design and technical teamReview contract documentationExecutes in fielding questions from contractors, consultants, and client with design and technical teamParticipates in site walkthroughs where appropriatePrepares supplementary instructions as required with design and technical teamPrepares addenda as required with design and technical teamPrepares deficiencies, all close out and substantial completion documentation with design and technical teamCOMMUNICATION:Exchanges project information with support staff.
