Youll work closely with the CEO and leadership team, owning two core pillars of the business:Finance (60%)Run full-cycle accounting: A/P, A/R, payroll, bank recs, CRA & WorkSafeBC filingsOwn monthly close, cash-flow tracking, and burn-rate dashboardsLead budget planning, forecasting, and variance reportingCoordinate with auditors, tax advisors, and grant partnersChampion automation across QuickBooks, Rippling, G-Sheetsand explore crypto-native toolingPeople Ops (40%)Manage the full employee lifecycle: recruiting logistics onboarding offboardingOversee HR systems (HRIS, PTO, hybrid compliance, performance reviews)Administer benefits and wellness programsEnsure policy compliance across BC and other Canadian provincesTrack eNPS, team engagement, and help foster an inclusive cultureWhat Success Looks Like5-day monthly close and zero-defect payrollReal-time, rolling 18-month runway model with Employee NPS 8/10 and voluntary turnover New hire onboarding completed within 5 business daysYou Bring5+ years of combined finance + HR experience in tech or high-growth environmentsPost-secondary in Accounting, Finance, HR, or Business (CPA or CPHR preferred)Deep knowledge of Canadian payroll, CRA remittances, and BC Employment StandardsHands-on expertise with QuickBooks/Xero, Excel or G-Sheets, and modern HRIS (e.g. Rippling, BambooHR)High EQ and the ability to switch between sensitive people matters and detailed financial modelingNice-to-HavesExperience with crypto/blockchain accounting or US contractor complianceTrack record scaling a startup from 50 peopleFamiliarity with Web3/SaaS metrics (ARR, staking TVL, validator rewards, etc.)
