A global freight Forwarding company is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Licensed Customs Broker to start a brokage division in Mississauga, ON. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of industry experience, hold a valid Canadian Customs Broker License, and possess in-depth knowledge of applying for the Canada Brokerage corporate permit. This role requires strong leadership, compliance expertise, and a proactive approach to navigating CBSA regulations and customs procedures.Licensed Customs Broker Key Responsibilities:Oversee and manage the customs clearance process for imports and exports in compliance with CBSA regulationsPrepare, verify, and process customs documentation for all modes of transportation (air, ocean, ground)Act as the main liaison with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and other government agenciesLead and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements for clients and company operationsAssist in the application process for the Canada Brokerage corporate permit, ensuring timely and accurate submissionProvide expert advice on customs-related matters, tariff classifications, valuation, origin, and free trade agreements (e.g., CUSMA/USMCA)Maintain and update internal systems and client databases in accordance with compliance standardsTrain and mentor junior customs staff on best practices and regulatory changesHandle audits, appeals, and customs rulings when requiredOther duties as assignedLicensed Customs Broker Qualifications:Licensed Customs Broker designation issued by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA)Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in customs brokerage and regulatory complianceProven experience in applying for and managing Canada Brokerage corporate permitsStrong knowledge of CBSA regulations, HS Tariff Classification, and OGD requirementsProficient in customs software such as CCS, ACROSS, and CADEXExcellent communication, organizational, and leadership skillsAbility to work independently and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlinesExperience working in a fast-paced logistics or freight forwarding environment is an assetKnowledge of ACI, eManifest, and other CBSA electronic systemsFamiliarity with customs audits and AMPS penaltiesMembership in CIFFA or CSCB is considered an advantageActiv8 Recruitment & Solutions / Renaissance Resources Inc. has been a trusted leader in North American recruiting for Japanese businesses for over 25 years.
