If you are passionate about continuous improvement and eager to contribute to a thriving organization, we would love to have you join our team!About the RoleAs an R&D Scientist with Actlabs, you will use your education, experience, logic, and creativity to help Actlabs continually improve quality, turnaround time, and cost of sample analysis with an eye on driving additional value to our clients. Working closely with R&D staff and production personnel you will help to formulate R&D strategy and priorities, implement, and manage R&D projects helping to drive continual improvement in all our processes. This position will be working in person at our Global Headquarters in Ancaster, Ontario.ResponsibilitiesPerform research and development so as to improve quality, turnaround time and costs of Actlabs methods and processesResearch and development of new scientific processes, author SOPs for those processes, execute method validation and author validation reportFormulate research strategy on R&D projects and oversee technicians in the execution of the experimentsTechnical improvement of current scientific processes and subsequent updating of SOPs and validationProvide technical training and guidance to technicians and managers with related competence testingInterface between QA and Operations - Oversee root cause analysis and corrective and preventive action of data analyst and process ownersProvide technical support to Actlabs network of laboratories (domestic and international)Evaluate the adequacy of current and new equipmentAnalyze data and generate final reports for non-routine projects to be issued to clients.Prepare and follow quality control procedures to meet SCC accreditation requirements under ISO/IEC 17025 and SCC RGsMaintain a safe, clean and efficient work environment in accordance with policies and proceduresSome domestic travel may be requiredOther tasks as appropriate for an R&D ScientistQualificationsM.Sc. or Ph.D. in Chemistry or Geochemistry and minimum of 5 years of R&D experience in ICP-OES or ICP-MS instrumentation, or B.Sc. and minimum of 10 years of progressive R&D experience in ICP-OES or ICP-MS instrumentationMinimum five years progressive R&D experienceR&D project management experience is an assetExperience working with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is an assetRequired SkillsExcellent problem solving/analytical capabilitiesCommon sense, innovative, and proactiveStrong interpersonal and communication skillsMeticulous work ethic, with excellent time-management and organizational skillsAbility to produce high quality work while meeting deadlinesProficiency with MS Word and ExcelAbility to manage competing demands of short and long-term projectsHighly motivated, adaptable, and detail-orientedAbility to work independently and have the ability to supervise othersWhat We Offer:Competitive Salary: We value your expertise and offer a competitive salary package.Health Spending Account: Access to a health spending account for your medical needs.Leave for Life's Reasons: Generous leave options including vacation, flex time, sick leave, and parental leave.Career Development: Opportunities for professional growth and career advancement.Join us and become part of a dynamic and professional team where your skills and contributions are valued and rewarded.
