The position requires the provision of comprehensive pediatric ophthalmology services in a provincial tertiary referral hospital, as well as services for adult strabismus and a comprehensive on call service for patients of all ages as part of the departmental on call rota. Main duties include the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, prescribing medications, surgical treatment, ordering laboratory tests, x-rays and other diagnostic services, consulting with other physicians as required, medical research, and teaching. Job duties are in English. The successful candidate would also be eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor (or higher depending on current academic rank) at the Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba. Qualifications The successful candidate must hold a Doctor of Medicine Degree with specialization in Ophthalmology, must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. Fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology is required; 2 years of fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology is preferred. Experience working in a North American healthcare environment may be advantageous and Pediatric Retina or Pediatric Glaucoma training preferred. Subspecialty expertise within the field of Pediatric Ophthalmology may be beneficial. Preference will also be given to applicants with a research-based graduate degree.
