Main duties include diagnosing and treating diseases, prescribing medications and treatments, ordering lab tests, x-rays, and other diagnostic procedures, and consulting with other physicians. These responsibilities encompass 50% of the position. The successful candidate will be eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor and will be appointed as a full-time member of the Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba. Job duties are required in English. This is an academic position within the Section of Neurology, supported by substantial resources within the health system, primarily at two academic health centres and one community hospital. The MS Clinic at the Health Sciences Centre serves as the provincial MS Clinic in Winnipeg, with nearly 3000 patients with demyelinating diseases. The clinic includes four subspecialty-trained MS neurologists, nursing support, a nurse practitioner, a 0.5 FTE PT, 0.8 FTE OT, 0.5 FTE dietitian, and a 0.5 FTE social worker. Clerical staff are shared with the neurology clinic, which uses an electronic medical record feeding into a clinical database. Qualifications The candidate must hold a Doctor of Medicine degree with specialization in Neurology, be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and be registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. Compensation Compensation includes a blend of fee-for-service income plus stipends. Specialty physicians may be eligible for a recruitment incentive.
