Job Description As an Associate, you will be responsible for conducting fundamental investment research, assisting in building recommendations, implementing fundamental investments strategies, and monitoring and managing portfolio investments. You may also support the identification, scoping, and implementation of new investment opportunities by conducting research, analysis, and preparing presentations. Team Description The Analyst or Associate will be based in Toronto and will be a part of the Semiconductors and Hardware domain that has a global mandate with team members based in Toronto and Hong Kong. The domain team is tasked with identifying the most attractive investment opportunities on a risk adjusted return across the Global Hardware and Semiconductor investment domain. Accountabilities: Compile industry, market and asset level data and financial information to support research Build and leverage relationships with industry participants and management teams Perform fundamental research and present research ideas to the broader group Perform due diligence on opportunities including financial, company and sector diligence, to determine investment merits and risks Provide inputs to and eventually individually develop and execute research plans to prove or disprove initial hypotheses on individual companies and/or industries. Develop company financial models and perform valuation analyses; apply statistical analysis to support investment decisions Participate in evaluation, including sharing views on overall investment attractiveness based on findings from diligence work Prepare analytical investment reviews and recommendations in collaboration with the team, including industry overviews, written investment rationales and due diligence reviews. Participate in presentation of investment recommendations to the Investment Committee and Board as required Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of existing portfolios Qualifications Intellectual curiosity, attention to detail and the ability to work and think independently are a must. 3-5 years of relevant work experience Strong research, analytical, financial modeling, valuation, problem solving skills and ability to think creatively An advanced degree or certification (CFA) is an asset Advanced computer/technical skills MS Excel, MS PowerPoint Solid verbal and written communication skills At CPP Investments, we are committed to diversity and equitable access to employment opportunities based on ability.
