As the Concierge, you will work together with the Fair Entry program, Assessment & Tax, and City Payment Services. In this position, you will assist Calgarians with general customer service inquiries, conduct check-ins for clients with online appointments, issue queuing tickets to walk-in customers, direct City Payment Services'' clients to the appropriate queue, alert Corporate Security for customer escalations, assist with way-finding, and respond to FAQ''s for the service providers located on the 3rd floor Municipal Building complex. Primary duty includes: * Ensure safety and de-escalate any hostility and contact Corporate Security if needed to maintain a safe environment for everyone in the lobby. * Monitor the area to ensure that customers are being handled in an orderly fashion to maximize delivery of expedient service and liaise back to each service provider, to inform them of any challenges or confusion that is occurring with their customers if systemic change is required. * Ask customers what services they are seeking and direct them to the stanchioned area for financial transactions. * Check in customers who have booked an online appointment in advance. * Responsible for greeting customers and conducting all associated reception functions. **Qualifications** * High School diploma or equivalency (e.g. GED/ CAEC) and at least 1 year of customer service experience. * Intermediate proficiency using Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) and previous experience working in complex database applications is required. * Formal training in crisis de-escalation as an asset. * Training in cultural awareness is considered an asset. * Knowledge of City of Calgary services will be considered an asset. * Excellent communication skills with a strong focus on customer service and conflict resolution, decision making and problem-solving abilities. * Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail, sensitivity, and the ability to prioritize work in a high volume and fast paced environment. **Pre-employment Requirements** * Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
