We want to meet you.Career CounsellorPeoplePlus Consulting Limited, an innovative and dynamic company with over 30 years of experience providing job search assistance to residents of Halifax Regional Municipality, is currently seeking a part-time Career Counsellor (up to 20 hours per week) at the Job Junction Nova Scotia Works (Halifax) location.Start Date: As soon as possibleApplication deadline: Tuesday August 8th 2025The candidate is responsible for the delivery of both in-house and outreach services to our clients. The ideal candidate will be highly dynamic, organized and detail oriented, with outstanding people skills. We are looking for an individual who is highly adaptable and who has a passion for helping clients to successfully achieve their career goals.JOB SPECIFICATIONSResponsibilities:Provide individuals who have been assessed as having multiple, complex employment barriers withan in-depth evaluation of their career development options.Provide expert counselling skills which include a clinical or functional understanding of the psychological and emotional impact of employment barriers.Assess client needs, concerns using proven counselling methods and co-operatively set work/life goalsAdminister and interpret tests designed to determine the interests, aptitudes and abilities of clients.Use psychometrics as required to assess interests, skills, personality and intellectual, cognitive and affective functions; analyse results; intervene for the purpose of clarifying the persons identity to develop their ability to make career choices and meet career objectives.Counsel people experiencing job loss and coping with relevant issuesPropose solutions and implement strategies that will assist the client in resolving employment related problems both immediate and long term, intervening when appropriate to refer them to additional appropriate resources within the organization or elsewhereResponsible to provide verbal and/or written reports on the clients progress to case managersKeep up to date client case notes and records, per professional guidelinesMake recommendations to the case manager regarding clients ongoing needsLiaises with the external diagnosticians regarding their findings and is present at the debriefing with the client.Liaises with other service delivery agents and community resources to promote the organization and update information on other servicesRefer appropriate clients to outside services such as Diagnostic Services for further assessment when appropriateParticipate in staff and professional development meetingsEducation /ExperiencePreference will be given to individuals with a graduate Degree (or equivalent work experience) in a counselling disciplineMinimum of 5 years of relevant work experienceCompletion of a supervised counselling practicum or internship preferredMaintain required certification with a professional counselling association, (or be eligible for membership), preferredExperience working with persons with disabilities, youth, older workers, minorities, and people with employment barriersExperience in employment, crisis intervention and training facilitation are considered an asset.Proficient computer skills particularly in MS Word, Internet, PowerPoint, Email,Ability to secure a clear Vulnerable Sector Check and/or Criminal Record CheckCore Competencies Professional behaviour Knowledge of clinical counselling principles and theories, methods, and procedures Employment and career knowledge Ability to administer and interpret psychometric assessments Good organizational and time management skillsWhat We OfferA work environment that feels more like a community and family that you go to and leave daily instead of a rigid office ;Opportunities for ongoing professional development and certification in Career Development;Opportunities to learn other career development skills and further develop your portfolio of skills ;An overall fun work environment with a team that works to always find humour even in the busiest of times and works to support each other.Conditions of Employment Centres core hours 8:30 am 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday Flexible work schedule Salary range: $ 48,000 - $ 53,000 annually (pro-rated for the contract term)To ApplyEmail your Resume and Cover Letter (in a merged pdf) to the address below with the subject lineCareer Counsellor (JJ-CC0825-LK).Please note that ONLY emailed applications will be considered.Application Closing Date: : Tuesday August 8th 2025 Apply @ : hiring@peopleplusconsulting.comWe thank you for your interest, however, only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
