What We Are Looking For Aird & Berlis LLP is looking for a Corporate Tax Legal Assistant to join our Tax, Wills & Estates group. The role is for someone who will contribute to the overall excellent level of service provided to our clients. The ideal candidate is someone who takes pride in their work, is detail oriented, reliable, highly organized and has the ability to handle multiple priorities. This is a good position if you are a self-starter and can work independently with minimal supervision . Responsibilities Administratively support a busy corporate tax practice. Assist with the completion of record books Maintain a tickler system for deadlines Assist with creation of corporate charts using PowerPoint Ensure corporate information in CorpLink database is accurate and up-to-date Minute book and general filing Update corporate registers and ledgers Vaulting items in the Trust and/or corporate vaults Calendar management: schedule appointments Opening new files, running conflict checks and drafting engagement letters Preparing dockets and working on finalizing the pre-bills Book travel and accommodations for conferences and prepare expense reports File emails in the document management system Produce the highest quality of work Handle daily administrative details Manage duties related to accounting Accountable for all work assigned Takes initiative Confidential Requirements Three (3) years of experience preferably in Tax or Corporate Successful completion of a related post-secondary Legal Assistant or Law Clerk program Handle time pressure situations and stress of multiple demands Skills Microsoft 365 suite of applications Knowledge of a corporate database is an asset Ability to problem solve Good judgement and decision making Strong interpersonal skills Organized Resourceful Detailed Why You Should Apply Opportunities for growth and on the job training and development Competitive compensation and benefits package We pride ourselves on being a mid-sized firm with a family feel Active involvement in our community with opportunities to volunteer Mentor program Wellness programs Any offer of employment will be conditional upon a criminal background check.
