We are looking for an energetic, outgoing team member to join our team **FULL TIME (up to 40 hours)** as an OPTOMETRIC/**OPTICAL ASSISTANT** at Downtown Vision, in the heart of downtown Toronto! We provide routine eye exams, advance dry eye treatments and specialty contact lenses, along with a full-service optical with a curated mid to high end frame selection. Previous optical/optometry experience is highly recommended but training available for the right candidate. **Please submit a resume and a cover letter explaining why you are the ideal candidate for this opportunity. **** **Job Responsibilities:** * Selling glasses and contact lenses, including frame selection, taking measurements, frame adjustments and recommending lenses to patients * Administering pre-testing before patients see the doctor * Reception work, including greeting patients at check-in, answer phone calls and email inquiries in a courteous and friendly manner * Checking out patients, taking payments and processing insurance claims * Booking appointments, including sending patient reminders and recalls * Maintain patient records via electronic health record system and using computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook etc) **The Successful Candidate** * Passionate about customer experience; a great communicator who can provide exceptional patient care * Energetic, self-motivated to work and take up new initiatives * Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment * English proficiency (written and spoken) * Good computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office suite * **Previous knowledge/experience (1 year in optical or medical setting)** * Post-secondary education (bachelors degree or diploma) Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent Pay: $19.00-$23.00 per hour Expected hours: 30 39 per week Additional pay: * Overtime pay Benefits: * Paid time off * Store discount * Vision care Flexible language requirement: * French not required Schedule: * Day shift * Monday to Friday * No weekends Ability to commute/relocate: * Toronto, ON M5H 3P5: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required) Work Location: In person Expected start date: 2025-07-28
