We are seeking an energetic and forward-thinking Certificated Teacher to join our team in Fall 2025. This role involves developing a flexible, engaging, and specialized learning environment for elementary students with autism, based on a modified Alberta Education Program of Studies curriculum. The ideal candidate will have expertise in literacy and numeracy and a collaborative mindset, working closely with our multi-disciplinary Education Team. **Key Duties and Responsibilities:** The Certificated Teacher will lead assessment, planning, and instruction, ensuring that learning experiences are challenging, meaningful, and adapted to student needs. The role includes: * Demonstrating initiative and creativity in lesson planning, making learning accessible, engaging, and inspiring. * Creating an inclusive and welcoming environment where diversity is respected, and students feel safe, valued, and encouraged. * Collaborating closely with the Program Coordinator (PC) and Principal to align curriculum and instructional plans with Alberta Education guidelines. * Ensuring the orderly development of student learning and adapting instruction to suit individual needs. * Implementing and refining Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programming in collaboration with the PC. * Engaging students through dynamic, enthusiastic teaching that fosters curiosity and a love for learning. * Upholding high standards of learning, professional practice, and Albertas Teaching Quality Standards. * Providing mentorship and leadership in the classroom to support student growth and team development. * Leveraging resources and support to maximize student success while adhering to Janus Academy routines and procedures. * Maintaining discipline and safeguarding student health and safety at all times. * Actively participating in staff meetings, team collaborations, school assemblies, and field trips. * Leading and engaging in Parent-Teacher conferences, ensuring clear and open communication with families. * Respecting confidentiality regarding students, families, and staff, upholding professional and ethical standards. * Ensuring consistent and positive school-home communication through regular updates on student progress. * Keeping comprehensive records of student achievement, assessments, and progress reporting via IPPs, Report Cards, and evaluations. * Serving as a key contributor to our multi-disciplinary team, ensuring a collaborative and student-centered approach. * Adhering to all relevant educational policies and standards, including the Education Act, Private School Regulations, and Standards of Special Education. * Taking on additional responsibilities as needed to support students, colleagues, and the school community. Qualifications: * Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree (required). * Interim or Permanent Professional Certificate recognized by Alberta Education (required). * Proven teaching experience with documented success in practicum and/or classroom settings. * Knowledge of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) principles (an asset). * Strong professional references. * Police clearance, including a Vulnerable Sector Check and an Intervention Record Check (required). * First Aid / CPR certification (an asset).
