Airswift is seeking a Contract Designer to work with one of our Energy clients on a Remote position. 3-month contract with possibility of extension. Overview:We are seeking a skilled Designer with strong technical proficiency in 3D modeling, drafting, and fabrication drawing development. The ideal candidate has a background in pressure vessel, structural, and piping design and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.The Designer, reporting to the Design Manager, is responsible for creating accurate 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings for piping systems, pressure vessels, and tanks. This role involves managing Bills of Materials within ERP systems, incorporating feedback from customers and engineering, and ensuring design updates are implemented promptly. The Designer works closely with production, project management, and engineering teams to optimize designs, resolve issues, and support efficient, costeffective project execution.Essential Job FunctionsTechnical SkillsCreate 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings using Autodesk Inventor for pressure vessels, structural skids/platforms, and tanks.Develop 3D models and isometric piping drawings using CADWorx for piping packages.Enter detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs) into MRP/ERP systems to support procurement and production planning.Apply GD&T, welding symbols, and fabrication standards to ensure drawing accuracy and manufacturability.Perform basic engineering calculations and design checks to validate dimensions and material selections.CommunicationAccurately interpret and apply customer and engineering markups, incorporating changes promptly.Work closely with Project Managers to clarify design questions and align deliverables with project objectives.Proactively communicate design limitations or improvement opportunities to cross-functional teams.Documentation & ReportingUpdate as-built drawings to reflect fabrication changes and maintain accurate project records.Ensure all drawings meet client specifications and quality standards.Maintain revision control and document design history.Submit complete drawing packages with supporting documentation when required.Client / Team InteractionCollaborate with Production to identify and resolve fabrication or assembly issues.Partner with Engineering to develop efficient and cost-effective designs.Participate in design review meetings with clients and internal teams to gather and incorporate feedback.Provide technical support during procurement and installation phases.SafetyFollow all company and regulatory safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment.Qualifications & SkillsRequired Qualifications35 years of experience in a similar design role.5+ years of total design experience, preferably in welding and manufacturing environments.Diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology or related field (preferred).Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and CADWorx (required).Solid understanding of P&IDs, including symbols and basic equipment functions.Knowledge of ASME codes and API standards.Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., Made2Manage).Technical SkillsExpertise in 3D modeling and detailed fabrication drawings.Proficient in interpreting and applying industry standards (ASME, API) and P&IDs.Experienced in BOM and inventory management through ERP systems.Knowledgeable about fabrication processes, especially welding and assembly.Soft SkillsStrong attention to detail with a focus on drawing and documentation accuracy.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.Effective collaboration across Production, Project Management, and Engineering teams.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Skilled in presenting design concepts and project updates to groups.Proactive problem-solver who supports project goals and team success.
