You will supervise program staff, have responsibility for site operations, plan and implement daily activities and programming, complete administrative tasks, and ensure a welcoming, inclusive environment where every participant feels supported and empowered. Employment Timelines The contract term for this position will be approximately 12 weeks, working up to approximately 36.25 hours per week. Responsibilities Full responsibility for the site and special events, overseeing staffs day to day responsibilities, participants, operations, and the implementation of programming, quality control and safety. Conduct daily program audits to ensure that program plans are being followed and make amendments to meet the needs and skills of staff and participants. Assign daily tasks to program staff and conduct daily checks to ensure that those tasks are being completed according to program standards and provide support and coaching where needed. Oversee on site petty cash and purchase supplies as needed. Coordinate community special events for various communities by securing site specific facilitators/guest speakers etc. Participate in weekly regional site meetings and provide progress reports and issues action plans to Program Coordinators. Ensure program schedule is completed 2 weeks in advance and approved by Program Coordinator. Plan excursions that require participants to be bussed and delegate staff responsibilities for offsite excursions. Liaise with all site specific vendors ensuring all vendors are properly setup within HOMES (support with setup where needed) before they deliver their requested services. Conduct community asset mapping to ensure that campers become aware of community resources in fun and creative ways. Plan and implement community engagement initiatives. Monitor site phone and email, create site newsletter that is emailed to parents, monitor and respond to all parent communication that is sent to the email. Provide direct programming when site is short staffed due to absent or needs assistance to complete their roles. Conduct weekly staff meetings and daily debriefs with site staff to ensure they have the resources needed to effectively implement program. Supervise and motivate site staff, provide feedback, leadership opportunities and performance management to help them develop their skills. Develops and distributes resources to assist staff with their programming. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must be minimum 18 years of age. Post-Secondary education (or pursuing) in Community Development, Social Work, Child and Youth work, Sports Management/Development or other relevant fields, considered an asset Experience supervising and coaching staff in recreational setting Experience working with parents and other stakeholders. Cleared Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) First Aid qualifications, or must be willing to obtain certificate prior to commencement of work assignment High 5 Training is an Asset Demonstrated knowledge, experience and/or academic background in working with youth and children in a community-based setting Experience overseeing the planning and implementation of community-based programs within high needs/Priority neighbourhoods; Experience working with BIPOC communities Strong verbal and written communication skills: working knowledge of relevant software (i.e Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Suite etc.) and comfort learning new programs Proficient in behavior management, crisis intervention and problem-solving Ability to work in fast paced environment while prioritizing and managing multiple tasks PLEASE NOTE - In order to be eligible as a Site Lead, applicants need to be at least 18 years or above.
