This includes creating governing principles, policies, standards, and procedures to guide solution decision-making. The IT Architect will develop an implementation plan for the Enterprise Architecture program and drive innovative solutions to complex technical challenges, ensuring high reliability, efficiency, and quality of IT systems. This role provides strategic leadership and oversight across cloud infrastructure, web application development, and the Microsoft 365 platform. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Assess and evaluate new trends impacting the Utility industry and Toronto Hydro. Design IT Asset Management models, including lifecycle and frameworks aligned with corporate goals to improve IT system reliability, quality, and service delivery. Develop IT foundational technology strategies and system plans, including conducting research, trending analysis, and creating white papers. Create, maintain, and enforce architectural standards, policies, and procedures, gaining approval from IT senior management. Provide technical leadership for solution design and architecture, supporting business case development, project delivery, and incident management. Lead proof of concepts (PoCs) for critical and emerging technologies to support IT modernization initiatives. Define and lead strategic roadmaps for IT platforms within responsible domains. Manage and audit IT project execution to ensure compliance with standards and justify necessary exceptions. REQUIREMENTS: Post-secondary technical degree (e.g., Computer Science, Computer Engineering) or equivalent experience. At least 5 years of experience in IT Architecture across multiple disciplines, including cloud, solution architecture, and Microsoft ecosystem. Expertise in cloud infrastructure, particularly Azure, Entra ID, Azure DevOps, and related solutions. Experience designing solutions for enterprise Microsoft environments, including governance models and best practices. Web development experience, with knowledge of modern web applications, APIs, Liferay, and backend integration. Strong understanding of IT infrastructure (servers, virtualization, storage, networks) and database management (Oracle, SQL Server). Experience establishing and enforcing architectural standards and policies across platforms. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to build relationships internally and externally to support organizational goals. Clear understanding of corporate direction, accountability, and customer-focused decision-making.
