Job Description

Ivaco Rolling Mills, is seeking a Purchasing Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our procurement function. This successful candidate will be responsible for supervising purchasing buyers, assigning daily tasks, managing supplier relationships and ensuring compliance with procurement policies and KPIs. He/she will also serve as the key point of contact for emergency purchasing needs, driving efficiency, responsiveness, and cost-effective procurement practices. Key Responsibilities:Directly supervise and coordinate the activities of the buyers to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement. Act as the key point of contact for emergency or urgent procurement activities.Collaborate with inventory control, production, and other departments to forecast demand and align procurement with operational needs.Assist in budgeting and forecasting procurement expenses.Coordinate and reconcile departmental monthly credit card spending to ensure accuracy.Track, ensure compliance with, and report weekly on key performance indicators (KPIs).Monitor and analyze purchasing performance metrics.Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.Resolve vendor issues and discrepancies related to delivery, quality, or invoicing.Conduct market research to identify potential sources of supply and optimize cost saving and efficiencies within the product categories.Ensure compliance with company policies, purchasing standards, and regulatory requirements.Review and approve purchase orders, contracts, and agreements.Evaluate and select suppliers based on criteria such as quality, cost, reliability, and sustainability.Actively participate in the company-wide safety program.Job Requirements:Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.35 years of experience in purchasing or procurement in a manufacturing, construction or industrial environment with at least 12 years in a supervisory or leadership role.Experience in a unionized environment would be considered an asset.Fluent in both English and French (spoken and written).Strong negotiation and communication skills.Proficiency in purchasing software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) would be considered an asset.Knowledge of sourcing and vendor management best practices.Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
