A hands-on role responsible for all day-to-day matters and ensure compliance, regulations, ethical and professional requirements are met.Key Responsibilities: - Lead the preparation of monthly financial statements. - Prepare quarterly consolidated statements with full note disclosure.- Review quarterly financial statements and compare results to budget as well as provide analysis and explanations for variances.- Process accounting transactions (i.e. payables, receivables, banking transactions, etc.).- In collaboration with the CFO, create and maintain financial forecasts, cash flow forecasts and variance analysis.- Maintain financial system (i.e. QuickBooks) for processing transactions including GL chart of accounts and accounting mapping for financial reporting.- Assist in budget and forecasting preparation and analysis with respect to cost and revenue ratios.- Coordinate and engage with external auditors during quarterly and yearly audits.- Ensure compliance in the areas of retail sales tax, corporate taxation, and financial reporting & disclosure.- Prepare and file tax returns, HST returns, payroll tax remittances, employee tax filings (i.e. T4s, WSIB, EHT) and oversee various government remittances and reports.- Review all new accounting pronouncements that affect the company and ensure compliance.- In collaboration with the CFO design and implement business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.- Maintain compliance documentation & perform regular monitoring/testing of internal controls to ensure compliance.- Manage payroll function for the Company and process monthly payroll.- Review and provide content for Management Discussion and Analyses, Annual Information Forms, Financial Statements and other similar disclosure documents on a timely basis.- Ensure compliance with Signing and Reporting Policy.- Prepare and develop ad hoc reports to improve accounting systems, processes and reporting.- Execute other duties and special projects as assigned.Qualifications:- Bachelor''s degree and accounting designation (CPA).- Minimum seven (7) years'' experience in a similar hands-on role navigating accounting, payroll and financial financial statements, quarterly consolidated statements with full note disclosure.- Experience working in a publicly traded organization is required; experience in the energy/mining or related industry is an asset.- In-depth knowledge of Canadian GAAP, IFRS, Canadian taxation and public company disclosure notifications.- Experience with new accounting pronouncement interpretation and implementation.- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence, effectively present, clarify concerns and concepts to various audiences.- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deliverables in a time-sensitive environment and adapt to frequently changing priorities.- Highly attentive to detail and committed to quality. - Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and dedication to timely and accurate reporting.- High proficiency using Microsoft Office, databases, financial software (i.e. QuickBooks, Tax Prep).- Flexible to work evenings and occasional weekend as needed.For more information, please email resume in confidence to cindy.larocque@quantum.ca.REFER A PERM HIRE AND EARN UP TO $1,000!
