This position reports to the Quantity Surveyor ManagerWhat You Will Be Doing?Monitor and Control Project ExpenditureTrack all project costs, ensuring alignment with approved budgets and forecasts. Implement cost control measures and proactively identify potential cost overruns.Conduct Cost Reporting and ForecastingPrepare regular and accurate cost reports, providing detailed forecasts throughout the project lifecycle to inform decision-making by project management and stakeholders.Evaluate and Manage Subcontractor Agreements:Administer subcontractor agreements, including first evaluating of any potential claims, processing variations, and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations. Support the Construction Manager in technical issues and commercial department in all contractual matters.Support Procurement StrategiesContribute to the development and implementation of procurement strategies for materials, services, and subcontractors, ensuring cost-effectiveness and value for money.Conduct Site Visits and Inspections:Conduct regular site visits and inspections to assess work progress, validate quantities, monitor quality, and address any discrepancies or potential issues.Conduct Valuations for Payment:Perform valuations of completed work for interim payments to contractors and subcontractors, and prepare final accounts upon project completion, ensuring accurate and timely payments.Verify Subcontractor Claims and Recommend Payments:Assist commercial team if Subcontractor present claims, ensuring they are in accordance with the contract terms, and recommend appropriate payments.Collaborate with Project Teams:Work closely and collaboratively with construction managers, contract manager, engineers, architects, and site teams to ensure effective communication and coordination of cost-related matters.Prepare Reports for Stakeholders:Prepare/review accurate daily, weekly and monthly reports for clients, stakeholders, and senior management, providing clear and concise information on project costs, financial performance, progress and related issues.Allocate Costs Accurately:Accurately allocate costs to designated cost centers to ensure proper financial tracking, analysis, and reporting, facilitating effective cost control and project accounting.What We Are Looking For?Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related fieldMinimum 10-15 years of experience in infrastructure or railway construction projects.Proven experience in post-contract construction phase on large scale infrastructure projects.Strong understanding of construction contracts, cost control systems, and procurement processes.Ability to adapt to and learn new software and construction technologies.Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.Proficient computer skills MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, etc.Good organizational and time management abilities.Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives.Excellent problem-solving and prioritizing skills.Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.Why Choose Webuild?Competitive base salary with RRSP matching up to 4% (for permanent employees).Work on major linear infrastructure projects across Canada.Group Benefits from Day 1 (20+ hours/week, permanent roles)Employee and Family Assistance ProgramWork/life balance encouraged35 weeks of vacation based on experienceTailored training and development20% discount at GoodLife Fitness for Ontario employeesJoin the Webuild LifeAt Webuild, we believe diverse perspectives drive innovation, strengthen teams, and lead to better outcomes.
