A willingness to travel as needed across Canada is essential. This position will have a dual focus. First, you will be responsible for monitoring environmental compliance at our landfills, transfer stations, material recovery, and waste collection vehicle maintenance facilities across Canada. Second, you will collaborate with our engineering team on a range of projects, including environmental studies, facility expansions, approval applications, design and construction of landfill gas and leachate management systems, and various waste management construction initiatives. A key aspect of this role will involve leading projects related to leachate management and landfill gas utilization, aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow and expand their role and responsibilities at Waste Connections. Reporting to the Canadian Region Engineering Manager, the Environmental Engineer will be based in Woodbridge, Ontario but will be required to travel to our facilities from Quu00e9bec to British Columbia. As an Environmental Engineer with us, the minimum responsibilities are: u2022 Conduct environmental compliance inspections and audits at our Canada-wide solid waste transfer stations, material recovery facilities, hauling facilities, and landfill sites. u2022 Provide support to our facility managers to solve operational, design, and compliance challenges. u2022 Further develop expertise in the area of landfill gas utilization, and leachate management and treatment. u2022 Provide direction and support to external engineering consultants and contractors as it relates to various planning, design and construction projects. u2022 Assist with environmental permit and approval applications. u2022 Review monitoring, construction, and operating reports. u2022 Help develop and implement safety, emergency, spill, stormwater, and other site operating plans. u2022 Assist with the preparation and review of facility design and development plans, develop cost estimates and evaluate engineering proposals and specifications. u2022 Maintain records and information databases. u2022 Meet with regulatory agencies as needed. u2022 Represent the company at conferences, waste management association, and community events. **WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:** u2022 Bachelor of Applied Science or Engineering Degree u2022 Registered Professional Engineer, or working toward this designation (Engineer in Training) u2022 Minimum of five years professional experience working in North America u2022 Experience in waste engineering, construction or environmental consulting u2022 Experience with Canadian Environmental Laws and Regulations would be beneficial u2022 Experience preparing engineering documents, reports or regulatory applications would be beneficial u2022 Field experience in construction oversight, fieldwork or environmental monitoring programs would be beneficial u2022 Ability to travel both in and out of province as required u2022 Excellent interpersonal, communication and report writing skills u2022 Valid Provincial Driver License u2022 Bilingual would be beneficial (English/French), but not a pre-requisite u2022 Ability to successfully complete all pre-employment requirements **WHAT YOUu2019LL GET FROM US:** u2022 Competitive Wages u2022 Retirement Plan with company match u2022 Benefits; Medical, Dental, Vision u2022 Perks, perks, perks!
