Spartan is publicly traded on the TSX under the symbol SDE.HR GeneralistSpartan is seeking an HR Generalist to join its Human Resources and Corporate Services team for maternity leave coverage. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced HR Generalist who is looking to build on their HR career and gain valuable experience in the energy sector. The successful candidate will bring a broad foundation of HR experience and a proven ability to learn quickly, take on complex and varied responsibilities and build strong relationships across all levels of the business. They will be ready to step in and make a difference, providing valuable support to both the HR team and business leaders. Given Spartans size, this role will contribute to a variety of HR initiatives as well as support our office services function, offering a well-rounded and diverse experience. This is an 8-month, full-time temporary in-office position based in our downtown Calgary location.What You Will Do Provide value-added advice and counsel to staff on key human resource matters, issues and opportunities and address day-to-day payroll, benefits and general HR questionsManage full-cycle recruitment including creating job postings, screening candidate resumes, interviewing, reference checks, providing input into the selection decision and offer preparationManage the employee and contractor life cycle including on-boarding and orientation, off-boarding, role and rate changes, leaves of absence and return-to work coordinationAdminister ADP Workforce Now, Spartans Human Resources Information System (HRIS), including inputting employee information for new hires, exits, reporting changes, etc., ensuring data is maintained accuratelySupport the compensation process including salary reviews, bonus program, and long-term incentive (LTI) administration via ShareworksSupport the Payroll & Benefits Consultant with payroll, group benefits and Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) administrationAssist with workforce planning, organizational development and employee engagement initiativesLead or assist on new program or system implementationsContribute to policy development and HR process improvementsComplete industry surveys and attend professional development meetings with organizations such as Mercer, Calgary Exchange Group (CEG), Calgary Total Rewards Network (CTRN) and othersAssist with administrative and corporate services functions to ensure the office runs smoothlySupport the administration of corporate office leases, future space demands and office moves or floor plan reorganizationsAssist with planning company events and other HR and administrative duties as requiredWho You AreYou are an HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is ready to make an immediate impact. You bring a combination of experience, curiosity and professionalism to everything you do.You have:An undergraduate degree or diploma3+ years of HR generalist experience, ideally in a lean or high-growth environmentA curious mindset, strong analytical skills and a natural aptitude for troubleshootingExcellent written and verbal communication skillsA strong service orientation with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization as well as with external stakeholdersMicrosoft Office experience with Intermediate proficiency in ExcelExceptional organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities with a sense of urgencyA reputation for integrity, maturity, sound judgment and high ethical standardsExcellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and filesAdditional assets include:Exposure to the energy sector and/or publicly traded companiesCPHR designation (or working toward it)Experience using ADP Workforce Now and ShareworksWhat We OfferThis is a salaried, full-time temporary position with paid vacation time off.
