R&D Engineer II Medical Device Innovation R&D Engineer II Medical Device Innovation Akkodis is partnered with a leading medical device manufacturing company here in Toronto to recruit an R&D Engineer to join a growing team based in Mississauga, ON, and play a key role designing, developing, and bringing to life cutting-edge medical devices that make a real impact. As part of the research and development team, you''ll be involved in all stages of the medical device lifecycle - from ideation and rapid prototyping to testing, design for manufacturing, and supporting regulatory approvals. You''ll collaborate with engineers, suppliers, regulatory bodies, and intellectual property teams to help bring innovative products to market. What You''ll Do: Assist in the design of cutting-edge medical devices through prototyping, testing and modeling. Develop validation plans and conduct validation testing Assist in DFM (Design for Manufacturing) activities. Develop and test new manufacturing processes. Maintain working relationships with Suppliers. Support regulatory filings to various government bodies. Support the development of intellectual property. Support pre-clinical and clinical research activities. Comply with the Health & Safety policies of the company and inform Management of unsafe working conditions. Other duties as required. Required qualifications: 2+ years of relevant work experience Knowledge of the design requirements as per 21 CFR 820 and ISO 13485 Experience with drafting and maintaining DHF and DMR documentations Experience with leading rapid design iteration and making design recommendations Ability to independently develop and adapt work plans based on vague or changing project goals Strong hypothesis-driven experimental design and statistical analysis skills Candidates should be self-starters and have a hands-on approach Ability to work independently and within a diverse group of Engineers and Production staff Strong communication skills (verbal/written) and demonstrated leadership skills Preferred qualifications: Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering preferred Related experience in medical device industry; Open to automotive, aerospace and other biotechnology industries Experience with injection molding component design Experience with catheter devices development If you''re passionate about engineering innovation and want to shape the future of medical technology, we''d love to hear from you.
