The Power Line Technician is responsible for preventative & corrective maintenance on overhead catenary power systems and will assist in other electrical duties such as TPSS, TVS, batteries, lighting, general power equipment, switches, switch heaters, etc. Responsibilities Carry out power isolation processes / tag out / lock out operations (TPSS, OCS) for the rail system, team, and any designated third parties. Be a TPIP (Track Power Isolation Permit) holder. Carry out work in accordance with strict health & safety procedures as defined by legislation and company policies. Participate in maintenance of other assets (ventilation, security assets, pumps, switches, etc.). Perform work involving computerized equipment/working manuals. Exchange / repair assets of sub-systems. Undertake duties related to infrastructure assets as specified by supervisors or managers. Participate in rescue/corrective operations in case of accidents or major failures. Report activities via a computerized maintenance management system. Supervise subcontractor activities. Attend team briefings, read reports and manuals, report incidents, and maintain a clean work environment. Work with the Rail System Team during emergencies or extreme weather conditions. Work at night and on weekends as required. Technical Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Experience working on power lines desired but not mandatory. Ability to operate a company vehicle. Effective teamwork skills. Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office and Windows. Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking). Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. Available to work nights and weekends. Work 12-14 hour days during emergencies. Educational Requirements Mandatory: Journeyman Electrician, Electrical Engineering Degree, or Electrical Engineering Technologist. Desirable: Master Electrician or equivalent experience.
