The Cancer Clinic at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital is an exciting new program area that opened in February 2016 and is co-located with Medical Day Care on the 2nd floor of the North Building. The Clerk will be responsible for daily registration, bookings, appointment coordination, order entry, flow, and clerical data management to support various responsibilities within the Medical Day Care, Pre and Post Oncology Clinics, Systemic Clinics, and other areas as required. Major responsibilities include: Collaborating with the program team to coordinate patient scheduling according to Cancer Care Ontario (CCO) standards, ensuring data reconciliation with appointments and schedules to meet CCO activity reporting requirements. Working with the Cancer Clinics Data Analyst to ensure data accuracy prior to submission to CCO. Liaising with patients and managing referrals to meet CCO wait time targets. Additional duties involve working with the Cancer Clinic team to ensure high-quality patient care, coordinating satellite clinics with the Regional Cancer Program, and participating in staff orientation programs. The role requires strong prioritization, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills, along with the ability to manage emotionally charged situations in a fast-paced environment. Qualifications : One (1) year recent relevant clerical experience in a healthcare setting or a recent Medical Office Administration Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution. Experience in an outpatient cancer clinic setting is highly preferred. Minimum typing speed of 30 WPM. Medical Terminology certificate required. Experience with Meditech software is highly preferred. Familiarity with scheduling standards in a Cancer Clinic setting is an asset. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). Accurate data entry skills. Strong critical thinking, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills. Ability to handle emotionally charged situations effectively. Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team. Satisfactory employment and attendance record. Additional Information : Hours : Monday - Friday, days, 8-hour shifts (subject to change).
