We currently have a Regular Full-time opportunity for Material Handler in the Linen Services department at Bayview Campus .Hours of WorkWeekdays & Alternating Weekends: Days; 8hrs; As per schedule, On-Call & Statutory Holidays Required.Summary of DutiesUnload trailer of clean linen and deliver to designated locationsCollect soiled linen from designated areas and load inside trailerReport any missed deliveries from linen supplierReplenish linen cart with any surplus linen from unitsComplete labelling of items as requiredReport missed pickup schedules of waste by Waste HaulerCollect and transport hazardous and medical waste from Waste Chute areas and other designated areas to Waste Processing roomReport any equipment that is non-functionalProvide support to the Environmental Support Services team as requiredParticipate and assist with linen and waste management initiatives when requiredKeep linen and waste room clean & tidyBe aware of conditions and measures that may affect the safety of employees, patients, students, volunteers, physicians and visitors including but not limited to: compliance with the safety standards of the Hospital and applicable legislationConduct work in a safe manner; observe and practice preventative measures identifying and reporting safety issuesAttending safety meetings, training, keeping updated with current Hospital standards requirementsQualifications/SkillsCompletion of Grade 11 education (or recognized equivalent)Ability to organize, plan and schedule work to minimize disruption to hospital functions and departmentsAbility to work in an expeditious, safe and structured mannerAbility to read and write EnglishKnowledge and commitment to Occupational Health and Safety in the WorkplaceMust be able to meet the physical demands of the job (e.g. heavy lifting, frequent prolonged standing, walking, pushing, pulling, moving of supplies, considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouchingMust have excellent manual dexterity and mobilityEvidence of good attendance, a satisfactory performance history and a discipline-free record requiredMust be able and willing to wear safety shoes and personal protective equipmentMust have valid drivers licenseMust have tow motor/forklift licenseMust comply with all hospital Infection Control protocolsQualified candidates are invited to submit their cover letter and resume (in one document) quoting 231953 to:Human ResourcesSunnybrook Health Sciences CentreTo apply, please click 'Apply for Position' at the bottom of this page.
